What happened?

They are all fricking crazy. Hers finally emerged in full. They are emotionally anchored to their vanity and ability to draw attention to themselves.

That’s what happened.
I know the "did Dottie drop the ball on purpose" has caused hours of debate here.

Along those same lines, did the mom in A Christmas Story break the Leg Lamp on purpose?

I say yes. Women are spiteful when they feel their sexuality is being threatened.

James Maddison and Tulane also making the CFP takes a lot of shine off that apple buddy.

That explains a lot of your fricked-up-edness
My wife talks about everything. More than I could even follow.

I tell her the stuff I think is relevant.

Because suits in the entertainment are mostly coked out narcists ignorant assholes with zero talent.

See Firefly and Men of a Certain Age for exhibits 1 and 3, with Freaks and Geeks as exhibit 2.

Bill Haverchuck is the GOAT of that show and the montage of him after school is GOLD.
This applies to Gen-Xers too.

We can add that a lot of us were latchkey kids and took care of ourselves after school. We we expected to get our homework done, get a snack, get the frozen chicken out of the fridge or turn on the crock pot, and entertain ourselves until our parents got home.

We definitely didn't get participation trophies. If we sucked, we were told so, and we let the shame drive us to be better.

What baffles me is why so many of my peers from my generation went on to completely change their parenting style and raised a bunch of pussies and weaklings?

The thought of paying $4K a month on a mortgage makes me start cold sweating. I can't imagine.

And that's knowing that if you make smart choices on location you're going to get all of that, minus the interest, plus the property value increase, back when you sell.

No thanks.

My across the street neighbor has been a mystery to me. He works for a fire extinguisher/fire system company. He does installations and routine maintenance/inspections. Blue collar job that I'd guess pays less than $100K a year. She is a financial analyst for one of the big oil companies. I would guess she's at $165K a year or there about.

They have one son, so child costs are not super high.

They live in the biggest floor plan in our neighborhood. They have an 2022 F-250, a 2020 Chevy Suburban, a 2024 Silverado, they put in a pool a few years ago. They have a nice toy hauler trailer RV thing, a big flat bed trailer, several motorcycles, a really nice side by side, and a new four wheeler.

I could never figure out how they afford all that stuff.

Then one day I was talking the guy and he mentioned he was trying to sell the toy hauler but he has WAY upside down on it. He also mentioned he was late on a payment on the side by side.

That's when it hit me, they are in debt up to their assholes.

That's how most people are "rich".

I don't have nearly as much "stuff", but everything I have is paid for.

I have a mortgage, and two car notes on used cars. My wife's little 2019 Audi Q3 will be paid off in February. Other than that, we just have regular credit card balances that we pay off each month.

What the frick are they even teaching in school nowadays?
Toyota???

My first vehicle was a 83 Toyota pickup. Between me, my brother, and then my dad we put over 300K miles on that little beast. Dad traded it to a buddy for an early 90’s Mazda pickup that died at 200K. Dad says the little red rust bucket Toyota is still running. His buddy uses it for runs to the garden center and other light hauls.

I put the ver 200K on a 2012 Tacoma and only traded it in because I wanted a full size truck.

I’ve got a 2020 Tundra now, second to last year of the 5.7 liter V8. I plan on getting at least 250K out of her.

The only brand new vehicle I ever bought was a Ford Escape. It ate its transmission at 30K and then 10K later started having electrical issues the dealer couldn’t pin down.

I know the F-150s are reliable, but they can’t beat a Tundra.

Yeah because that shite has worked out so well for studios that tried it…..

I’m sure MODERN AUDIENCES will love it.

Just my crank when I have the extra time and privacy.
