1. Higher taxes on capital and lower taxes on labor.
Why should people who use their brains be taxed more than those that use their bodies?

2. Public wage insurance, which smooths out falls in income after job losses as workers find better opportunities (and therefore eventually pays for itself).
What a great idea! Public programs have been so successful at solving the issues they were created for!

3. Tax reforms to establish inheritance tax for the ultra wealthy to prevent the entrenchment of capital-owning elites (the true 1%).
This already exists in many states. Why do you want to create disincentives for saving for and providing for your family after your death? What percentage is high enough to make the jealous and greedy satisfied?

His other classic:

quote:

Anyone else find British accents super annoying?
It really depends on the accent, they are not all created equal.

I could listen to this and not get tired of it for quite a while.

I wouldn't want to listen to Cockney gutter trash for a second.

6 should likely be higher, but it looks like she may be too stout. I reserve the right to move her up if a better body pic is uncovered.
First that fatty in the Tim Horton's granny video, now this. Reporter is fat, gap toothed, and has a football field of space between her eyes. These local stations are failing their cities, failing their state, failing their country, and failing the world. Unacceptable!

That's a big girl to have gotten an on camera news gig.

We used to be a proper nation.
Fat, two nose rings, and would be unattractive even if skinny. A complete betrayal of the public trust.
First, they are playing a shell game.

Second, even then, they are using a very specific definition of "involved."
Breaking! Motivated voters turn up in greater numbers than non-motivated voters! Who knew? :dunno:

They don't have the capacity to make a sandwich or start a crockpot, but they have the capacity to vote (if they don't have to show an ID, because they don't have the capacity to get one).

They don't have the capacity to operate a microwave, but they can navigate DoorDash, Reddit and TikTok.

They don't have to capacity to boil water or turn on an oven, but they have the capacity to lecture older generations about how the world should operate.

Seems legit.

You diabolical son of a bitch!

The black culture’s requirement to remain a Democrat “is stupid”
To be fair, a large part of what currently passes as "black culture" is picking the most destructive or disruptive actions and then doubling down on them.

Is this post evidence of your nuanced understanding of the situation?
It's not evidence of anything. It's only an observation that had you taken the time during your stint at university to study basic economics, you likely wouldn't be perplexed as to whether a billionaire owning a money losing venture made financial sense.

Someone purchasing a failing business for $250 MM
just to claim losses is considered sound investing? Ok.
Perhaps you should have rounded out all those super objective journalism courses with some basic economic courses. It would help shed some light on this situation you find so perplexing.

and do what is best for America.
According to whom? This is nothing more than sophistry to be used to do as they please. Two representatives can take two diametrically opposed positions while both claim their position is "what is best for America." As I said previously, they may get away with it a time or two, but eventually they will be held accountable.

Then why not just skip congress altogether, let POTUS write the bills, and every American gets to vote on them?
There is a middle ground. I believe most people are content to have their representatives vote as they please on the vast majority of mundane bullshite that occurs day to day. They are likely not OK with their representative voting contrary to their wishes on big ticket items that have overwhelming support from those constituents.

You can likely get away with this a time or two, but it will eventually bite you in the arse.

Lessons Learned?

With multiple incumbents perceived as anti-Trump, RINO, etc. getting sent packing this primary season, what do you think the lesson that will be learned is?

1) Trump is still very popular in the party and his endorsements matter more often than not

2) It is about representing your constituents, not yourself

3) Both

4) Neither/Something else
I don't think Massie's overall voting record is the issue. He is certainly more in line than many other Republicans. Massie's issue is that he is always much louder and more excited when he votes against the Republican majority than when he votes with it.

This makes him come across as an obstructionist. Many people view him as part of the reason, rightly or wrongly, the majority can't get shite done. If he just quietly made the same votes, people would grumble, but there wouldn't have been the move to get him out.
