Same in south Louisiana. A good number of Cajuns with the last name Martinez

It's still a Spanish last name, though. I'm sure they have a lot of Cajun ancestry but names like Romero, Martinez, Segura, Viator, and Lopez aren't French last names. Those New Iberia boys need to accept the fact that they're also HOMBRES and not just BAWS.

There's nothing confusing about saying the word Charters. It's Charters.

For starters, it isn’t “Charters St”. It’s Chartres.

Kissimmee, Florida

Usually non-locals put the emphasis on the first syllable.

It's Kis-SIM-mee.

Maringouin. "MER-ihn-gwihn"

Grosse Tete - have enjoyed hearing people guess at it trying to be ok with saying "Gross Teat."

Living in SE TX there was a primary street in my town, "Llano." I pronounced it "yah-no" and was immediately corrected that it was "lane-oh" street.

Leslie is a Yankee, don't listen to him. It's pronounced "Ar-can-saw" thanks to French explorers and fur traders attempting to say an Osage/Quapaw word in the 17th century
