Loowavulle in yankee land drives me nuts as well. The kings name was not loowa.

Monroe, LA has a Louisville street and they all say “Luey-vul” too. Same with Rayville, they say ‘“Ray-vul.” It’s annoying.

Natchitoches, LA (nA-ca-tish)

Nacogdoches, TX (na-ki-DOE-shuss)

There's a main street a few blocks me named Gerault. Correct way to pronounce it is (szur-row), but Texans are by and large ignorant and call it (Jure-ralt).

They are Mexican not Cajun

Ramirez and Martinez are Mexican families that decided to pronounce their names differently to try and sound not Mexican. Same way a lot of names change when getting to America

They're Spanish, descendants of all of the sugarcane farmers that immigrated to Iberia/Lafayette/St. Mary parish from the Canary Islands when Louisiana was a Spanish colony.

How about Reims, France. Those two names rhyme.
