Kendra Scott was arrested after police found a 20-year-old man dead from a gunshot wound in the back of his head outside her Memphis home
Maybe his head flew out the window and the body was still inside.

cant force a perp outside your house at gunpoint, then soot them in the back of the head in the front yard
had she shot him when she found him under the bed, should could have a better defense.
accept a plea on a lesser offense, like man slaughter, or go with "crime of passion/heat of the moment" an hope a jury will go along

Though not first degree murder ... he big time provoked the encounter, no doubt wormed his way out from under the bed and threw on pants and shoes and grabbed the rest and tried to split, because jail time cometh when you frick with a thirteen year old.
No real cooling off period, and almost certainly one continuous event, in other words not instigating a new event.
Sounds like (possibly justified) voluntary manslaughter to me.
Maybe SFP will take up her cause for CLE hours /jk

Mom is going to see some prison time unfortunately. But happy she got a POS off the streets.
Edit: Also curious how a jury will look at this considering the 13-year-old let the person in the house. Not that the mother probably knew of this at the time of the shooting, but this combined with shooting the back of the head won't end well for the mom.

The Mother has more than one daughter in that home.
was down in the linked story.
So which daughters was the 20 year old planning to entertain at 2a.m. The locked front door upset the mother who wondered what was going on. And who couldn't unlock the door in the earliest hours of the morning.

What the mom should have done was call a friend and get help to disappear him. I doubt he told anybody he was going to frick a 13 year old.
never find his body (or he turns up in the Wolf River - How do you figure out where he came from?
probably hard to think of that under pressure though

Likely voluntary manslaughter if committed in the heat of the moment. Depends on the facts.

Few other tidbits to this story
- The mom is black
- The dead pedo had "learning disabilities" which is different culturally from my experience. When black folks have learning disabilities, they are usually retarded. In white culcha, usually it means they have ADHD.
- She got a $100K bond
- They may reduce the charges (as they should b/c she'll never get convicted on Murder 1)

First-degree murder? Nah.
Manslaughter, perhaps, but no jail time. Mom did what she had to do to protect her child.
Now, she needs to put the fear of God into her slutty little 13-year-old.

You sure about that? I think this woman did just that.
If Im selected to the jury its just an unfortunate accident. She ran after him and the gun fell out of her hand and discharged. Sucks.
