South Carolina: Murdaugh murder convictions overturned

The state supreme court 5-0 overturned it.

May have been? not the evidence?
Did that have any effect on the evidence against him?

the trial was marred by jury tampering at the hands of the court clerk Becky Hill.

In the 5-0 ruling, the justices issued a scathing reprimand of Hill, writing that she 'egregiously attacked Murdaugh's credibility' throughout the March 2023 trial.

His fight for a retrial was chiefly based on allegations that Hill, the Colleton County Clerk of Court during his high-profile trial, tampered with the jury.
Hill, who was in charge of managing the jury and read out the guilty verdict to the court, pleaded guilty in December to four charges connected to the case: obstruction of justice, perjury, and two counts of misconduct in office.
The 58-year-old admitted to showing sealed court exhibits including graphic crime scene photos to a reporter during the trial and then lying about it. She also admitted to taking bonuses and promoting a tell-all book about the trial through her public office.

Prosecutors had investigated allegations of jury tampering against Hill after three jurors or alternates claimed she may have been trying to influence them, but found there was not the evidence to prove charges.

Chadboy,
If you think that's word salad, you need to pay more attention to people in Hollywood and certain politicians nowadays who spew gibberish and you would go away hard pressed to remember a single thought they expressed.

re: Has anyone every read "State of Fear" by Michael Crichton.

According to Crichton's brother Douglas, Crichton was diagnosed with lymphoma in early 2008.[127] His cancer was not made public until his death. He was undergoing chemotherapy treatment at the time of his death, and Crichton's physicians and relatives had been expecting him to recover. He died at age 66 on November 4, 2008
State of Fear was his next to last book published in his life time. According to his wiki, other half finished novels were found and completed. (I've read several of them and they lead me to wonder what if. Although his notes detailed where the novels were going.
His wiki is almost as long as State of Fear, it's a great rabbit hole to wander into with the help of Interlibrary loans if your library is missing some of his novels.
We bought a used library copy from Amazon, and it was the most used "Used" book we've ever gotten and could understand the heavy readership.

When we retired, we looked at a lot of towns and cities on both coasts.
That city in Maryland that appears to be charming..we even subscribed to their local newspaper and visited with some real estate agents.
The rocking chairs on front porches were charming until we noticed that they were attached to the porches with heavy chains.
Their historic district included tear downs that had been rebuilt ultra moderns. And a lot of the fuss that we had endured in the Quarter.
Don't let one visit define your destination. Follow locals on the internet, and try to find if there are interest groups that align with what you hope to do.

We watched for Hugh, and wished the ancillary characters would be killed off.
It's not on our rewatch list (which includes anything with James Garner).

Just an f'in minute.
There is no chance in hell that good little ethnic children would eat anything during the daylight hours for the entire month of Ramadan.
Why is the school district worried.
Those children should not be eating anything, nor should they be drinking anything (even water) unless they are physically in need of water to live.
If the school district was encouraging them to eat during Ramadan, then they have a real problem when their mullah-equivalents hear about it.

Was that close encounter meant to be a suicide or was it meant to bring the plane down (except the person may have been from another culcha and not known how to time his encounter for maximum life loss.)

re: Anyone else hates going to the doctor?

There's a new side of "going to the doctor". First, you are assuming that you will actually see and talk to the doctor about you, your health, and your potential problem.
Three folks I know have in the last three months had ""Doctor Appointments" and gone to the office, Gone through whatever measurements, procedures, exams with one of his assistants, might have been nurse pratiioners, they didn't introduce themselves, they just did the stuff. And then told goodby. They never saw their doctors.
When they didn't hear any followups, they each called the office and were told we'll get back to you. Most are still waiting.

Yes, California, we can do the math if you can't.

Officials have confirmed that two people in Georgia, one person in Arizona and an unspecified number of people in California are being monitored.
The Georgia Department of Public Health confirmed the agency was monitoring two residents, but did not say where in the state the individuals are located or how long they will remain under monitoring.
'The individuals are currently in good health and show no signs of infection. They are following current recommendations from CDC,' the agency said a statement to USA Today.

The Arizona Department of Health Services confirmed it was notified by Oceanwide about one resident who had been on the ship.
In California, the Department of Public Health said it was alerted by the CDC about residents who were on board, but did not disclose how many.

Did i read correctly that NONE of the Derby horses will be entered in the Preakness?
Reason was that todays' race horses are trained to take more than two weeks between races.
