TWC app on my phone is showing 33 mph winds for Pineville/Alex in the morning? I figured it would be much worse up here?

Very true... we are about to find out how quality of construction McDermott did on Cameron lng. There will be significant damage none the less.

Yep. Sigh.
I'm hoping for an EWRC just off shore as the waters shallow and the change in shear direction. We don't know what triggers them exactly but I have a pet hypothesis that changes in those sorts of conditions lead to some instability that can weaken the inner eyewall enough to start triggering in.
I wouldn't make plans based on my half baked hypothesis though.

How much damage do these refineries and chemical plants take during a hurricane?
Company I work for has about $35 million in construction equipment at an LNG Refinery in Sabine Pass, TX that we couldn't get out in time.

Just splitting hairs at this point but latest HWRF is very slightly more east.

This is about to Hurricane Michael. Hopefully it weakens some offshore on the shallow shelf and from the forces turning it north.

Are people evacuating in significant numbers? Google maps shows no traffic slowing on I-10 or anywhere near Lake Charles.

Vermilion Parish JUST issued a mandatory evacuation for some parts ** 43 ** minutes ago.
I'm all for personal responsibility -- I make my decisions but if you're gonna issue this, why the F do it at this point???
Oh and in case you missed it, super super reliable source told me that JBE said in a conference call that any deaths in Vermilion or Iberia were on the parish and NOT him.

How are you all in LA looking with flooding problems? Kind of a newb question but hope your storm prevention helps out during all of this, I know this year has pushed a lot of water on you all already.
