One of the gals in my grad school class was renting a house in fort worth. Went home after class, set her stuff down, got a drink and looked out the kitchen window....to see her neighbor swinging from a rope around his neck hanging from a tree about 8 feet away.

He also dropped a bunch of nets on a poor populace with substandard education whom also need to, ya know, eat. That substandard education doesn't mean dumb but it does mean resourceful.

So the main point stands. Rich white man tries to "help" the poor African folk and ends up fricking things up worse.

I got fired due my son's health issues preventing me from traveling "the appropriate amount", as if a week a month wasn't enough, and had to go on Cobra for about 5 months at roughly $2500/mo. He ended up getting an incredibly invasive surgery that lasted about 7 hours to the tune of about $500,000 all of which was covered by my previous company/COBRA.

It paid off, but would have been much cheaper not on Cobra. Stay with your employer and get the surgery. Go on STD, then long then ltd if needed.
