A buddy of mine grew up in Huntsville. His dad was in the aerospace industry. Their neighbor was Wernher von Braun. Said he was a nice old man despite his past.

Was the wife "normal"?
She was slow and special ed herself. From what i remember she was cheating on him with someone else and he happened to walk in on them. After he caught them she made him mad and basically taunted him saying she never liked him and the baby wouldnt be his anyway. About a week or so after that he went to her home and shot her and then himself. Really sad situation all around

Yes. Friend fot fes up with being bullied by a guy we went to high school with and one day walked out of his house -after a dispute during a pick up softball game - and shot him in the chest with a 12 gauge . Went to Angola and was EWE’s personal chef at the capital for a while during his last term. Mom of the guy he shot got word and they sent him back to the farm. FWIW… the guy he shot was a bully and an a-hole. Not that excuses anything but his day came .

Like knew them closely

knew a guy in HS some that killed 3 people and shot a 4th. Like he'd hang out with our friend group and we'd drink beer together. I hadn't seen him since highschool though and he killed those people many years later. Ryan Sharpe
His dad and I are very good friends. Sad story.

Like knew them closely, not just some random douche that lived in your town that you heard of. If so, were there warning signs that you saw or did it completely shock you?

A kid in my neighborhood stabbed and killed my friend’s little brother during an argument when they were around 13-14. We were a few years older so I knew the kid but didn’t hang out with him or anything.
ETA: Also my uncle shot and killed my grandmother then killed himself later that night. Guess that counts too.

Went to high school with a guy that is spending the rest of his life for murder. I believe the story goes that he was stealing guns out of a boat house. Owner came out of his house and fired a warning shot, guy I went to high school with shot the homeowner.
There were warning signs. I believe it was the year before his senior year, he had killed a lady in an automobile incident. He was drunk.
Another couple of guys I was acquainted with beat a man to death and left him on the side of the road several years ago. My family bought sporting goods from his mom’s shop when I was a kid. Those guys were around the shop from time to time. They always seemed like they were in trouble all the time. Weirdly enough, the guy they killed was with the first guy when he had the automobile accident in high school. He was the passenger in the car.

“Am I the only person who does NOT know a murderer?”
How old are you? I’m old and have known a lot of people, live long enough you will likely know someone.
Besides Phillip DeSelle,I ‘ve known 2 men that killed their wives,1 committed suicide, the other went home and was arrested.I would rather not post the details.

Guy I knew growing up, he was a few years older than me. Played a lot of softball & basketball with him. He was a talented athlete, although he never played in school. Years later he killed his wife & son, tied his daughter up and went to Walmart and bought a shotgun. While he was gone his daughter untied herself and ran next door and said Daddy's hurting us. He made it back home before the law got there and killed himself.
I remember when my Dad told me about it the next day I went and looked at a calendar to see if the previous night when it happened was a full moon. It was.

OJ obviously and maybe Jim Dunaway?
If Dunaway did it, which seems likely, that would make 2 Bills who murdered a former spouse and got away with it.
quote:
At 6’5” 280 pounds, Jim Dunaway was a force to be reckoned with on the field. Jim has the unique privilege of being one of the individuals who played in the 1972 undefeated Miami Dolphins team. In 1998, Jim’s wife, Nonniel Dunaway was found dead in a swimming pool. The result of the autopsy showed that she had a fractured skull and was unconscious prior to being put into the half full swimming pool. Jim was the primary suspect for the murder and was later arrested. However, the grand jury felt there was not enough evidence for an indictment, so Jim walked away scot-free. However, in 2002 his children filed civil wrongful death charges against him and received damages to the order of $500,000.
quote:
Prior to this event, she had won a divorce judgment which gave her more than 800 acres (3.2 km2) of property that the couple owned, $1,800 a month in alimony and half of Dunaway's NFL pension. They had been divorced since 1995 and Dunaway was planning to appeal.
… Coincidentally, Dunaway had been a teammate for three seasons of star running back O. J. Simpson, who was similarly found responsible for his ex-wife's death after being acquitted of her murder in a controversial trial in 1995.
EDIT: I think you answered this before my post, but I hadn’t seen your answer until just now.

This was 2003-2004, a guy who was a student worked in the department I worked in, while in college killed a guy one night. He was a year removed form HS and a guy who was home from school. He played baseball for a small college, but I don't know all what happened, but there was a fight and the guy who worked with us went inside, got a gun and went back and shot the guy. Before that happened, maybe a week or two earlier the guy came into work with a bandage on his hand and some Band-Aids. He told us he wrecked his friend's motorcycle, come to find out he was jumped by the guy he ended up shooting. The fact he went inside, got the gun then went back proved intent, his side argued self defense and he was found guilty.. Life in Angola.
But you are talking about cold blooded murder? I knew off someone but didn't know him personally.

A friend of mine's uncle went & got a pizza. Came home & set it on the bar beside his wife's phone. Picked up her phone & saw she had been texting another man. Got a shotgun and went into the other room where his wife was and shot her in the face. Got her phone & took a pic of her laying there dead and sent it to the guy she had been texting with.
