I went to a handful of games in 2022 and 2023 and just didn't see it. 2024 UCLA is when I said "woah"

I went to the Bama game that year and didn’t notice anything, but I do a good bit of day drinking. I would go to maybe 5 games a year the first decade or so after I graduated. Now, I’m lucky to make 1, so I don’t notice as much of the trends.

All that said…are people going to start watching at home with this being a major reason?

Urban decay is nothing new, especially in Birmingham. The downtown loft concept in many cities seems nice on paper, but when there’s a true lack of police presence and neighbors who support the homeless and criminals, you’re still stuck, regardless of how nice your renovated building is.

Either you go to the office and apply for every social program you can think of to join the fun, or move.

We won’t wear something that says “Louisiana State” on it. I can promise you that

You’re right, but I think it’s lame. Funny how that branding doesn’t carry over as strongly to baseball.

Louisiana State University is a fine name.

Pretty dumb to compare teams across eras anyway.

No shite. I lived a lovely middle class childhood. Just another reminder that I should stop bitching.

A lot more weird virtue signaling religious nuts on here that I thought

Non-religious people getting bent out of shape by true believers is strange. I choose to believe, but if someone else refuses, I’m not going to get upset. You do you. It’s not difficult to find the word.

I think Simmons did affect LSU negatively while he was here.

While he was here, sure. I mean, that team wasn’t going to magically go places without him either. The culture around the team sucked, but Will Wade quickly wiped that out when he got to campus.

Went to their Mardi Gras one year and found out. It was so disappointing. Every bar was full of underaged girls begging you to buy them drinks. Most were high school kids. Kept wondering where these kids parents were, and why their kids were out at 1 am.

Yeah man, NO Mardi Gras never has issues…
I agree with that. There’s a large sector of LSU fans that hold grudges. That’s fine, but I just don’t see any need to with Simmons. He’s not relevant enough and isn’t even really associated with LSU basketball.

Have spent their entire show so far talking about this Jayden Daniels thing. They drift off but keep coming back to it. So far not a single mention of Skip Bertman. Says a lot about ESPN / SEC Media

Ratings drive all. More people will watch JD drama. I love college baseball and Skip, but in 2026, Daniels is a household name and Skip is not.

Also, hoping ESPN heaps praise upon Skip is weird validation to seek.

He can keep up the idiocy and ruin his career

His success as an NFL qb isn’t tied to this ordeal. This can absolutely ruin his image, though.
I try not to get too riled up. I am capable of realizing that Daniels is being an idiot right now while also acknowledging how fun he was to watch in P&G, and that he repped us positively. Honestly, I don’t see the reason to hate him now. He’s damaging himself, and no sane person agrees with his camp’s stance. Dude is gonna learn a tough lesson, and would be wise to try to repair the bridge ASAP.

I always loved Belle, but I like Cleveland, so…

I also don’t get the Simmons hate. At the end of the day, he was overrated and in it for himself, as is the case for many athletes. It’s not like he has negatively impacted LSU hoops.

It will require manipulative language, but the woke will swallow it whole and try to scream down anyone who objects.

I agree. In this era of inclusion, they will try to exclude anyone that doesn’t fit their idea of a trans. They just have to find a way to define the whole thing. I’m not sure they can without opening up to a lawsuit.
That’s tough. Places like NY and Chicago have had 2 teams for years, and I think it thrived because they identified with the neighborhood or borough. Adding a second team to a major market hasn’t been done in a while, has it?

From a numbers standpoint, I think it could work. It takes a long time to get from one end to the other in Houston and DFW. A suburb team might do well, BUT…the trend in baseball at least is to add your MiLB affiliates close by, which you have with teams like Sugar Land and Frisco.

Interesting idea instead of always running out Portland and Nashville for expansion places.

The AL East (minus TB) should get an ASG soon, it's been a while since anyone has had it in that division. Rogers Centre-1991 Camden Yards-1993 Fenway-1999 Yankee Stadium (old)-2008

Good point. I feel like it was an unwritten rule that there was a giant rotation except for a place like the Trop, and it was only altered with new stadiums or the Indians ditching Wahoo.
I mean “perspective” from a sense of how fortunate I truly am compared to a sick kid.

Broad perspective? Sure.

There’s a finite amount of numbers. Honor the player, retire the jersey in the stadium, eventually build the statue of Heisman winners.

But you can’t take numbers out of circulation from a logistical standpoint.

This has inspired me before. Traveling can get my excitement level up. I combine with sports and am trying to get to all 30 MLB parks. I’m well over 30, but that includes old ones that have been demolished. I have this wall in my home with canvas pictures I have taken from behind the plate at every stadium. And yet there are times I’ll look at it and wonder what the hell it is all for
