A long time ago when I was in my early teens we had a swim hole in the creek near my house that had a high bank with a tall oak tree that had a steel cable attached to it that we used for a swing. We heard thunder in the distance, but were having so much fun we didn't pay any attention. I had just lifted my feet of the ground and was swinging over the water when it struck and came down the cable and shocked the heck out of me.
Many years later lightning fried my tv. I had only had it about a month and took it back to Walmart and told them it just quit working, and they let me have a new one. Kind of weird but for the many years I had that tv it would make a strange popping sound on the regular day and night.

re: Why doesn’t our society ever talk about how few Korean War vets are left?

My dad and his twin brother joined the national guard when they turned 17 and were still in high school and right after they got mobilized into the army when the war broke out. They never had to go over there, although he said his unit was packed and ready one time but got cancelled at the last minuet.
My grandfather made them promise him that whatever happened, they would not let the North Koreans take them prisoner. They were identical and you could hardly tell them apart. They have been gone a few years now and I really miss them. My uncle came into this world 10 minuets before my dad, and left this world 10 months before my dad.

Ricky Dykes. Early eighties. Jones County MS. Owned a feed mill called HDJ Milling about 5 miles west of Laurel. Chained to a post inside the mill and shot in the back of the head. The building burned completely.
He had announced in church for people to pray for him, and that the mafia was alive and well in Jones county.
Years later the man that married Ricky's dad's widow told my dad that Ricky's dad, who was the original owner of the business, had lost more than he could pay in gambling debts. He told them that he would soon die of cancer and the debt would be paid through a life insurance policy.
They were pillars of the community and Ricky's dad was one of the last people I would have thought would get in that kind of problem. His cousin got elected sheriff a few years later and wanted to pursue the case, but was told to leave it alone.

That place used to be a diesel repair shop. Been there many times in the past when they were a customer. I've had nightmares about being on foot at night in that part of town. Can't believe an all conference player would go there.
Safeguard breaks me out in a rash too. Ivory is all I buy.
re: Gov. Jeff Landry calls for Louisiana to get rid of inspection stickers

Mississippi should be gray on that map. Haven't had to have an inspection sticker in several years.
We don't want him around since he's into that yoga crap. Also, he needs to get a New Iberia haircut if he's going to coach LSU.
I bet Golding will be better than Steve Sloan was.

411 million??
Little LSU want to be a big football program?

If he's anything like his dad was as a JCJC Bobcat back in the mid-late seventies he's one partying sob.
re: Manning fatigue … Frick them from Archie on down

I remember a friend telling me years ago "No Manning will ever win a Super Bowl". He is an Arkansas fan so I guess it is expected of him to be ignorant.
Archie doesn't like LSU because they pelted him with oranges in 1970 while blowing him out when he was playing with a broken arm.

re: Ole Miss Fans Showed Their Asses The Last Month Or So, Let's Go Tulane!

Well if you are going to be like that then we aren't going to pull for you in your bowl game. So there.
re: Ole Miss in the playoffs

The petro vapors will affect him cognitively the way it has done their last three coaches, and he will be lucky if he gets half the amount his contract says his buyout is supposed to be.
Maybe they know what they are doing more than you. After all they hired your precious savior Kiffin back at the same time LSU wouldn't touch him with a 10 ft pole and hired Kelly.
Tulane's Jon Sumrall
re: Alot of smoke surrounding USMs Charles Huff for Ole Miss

Got blew out by Texas State last week but wouldn't mind rolling the dice.
Don't Puff!! Get Huff!!
He's got the right Stuff!!

re: Don't cheat. Take a guess. What is the longest college football punt in history?

Ray Guy 93 yds vs Ole Miss about 1970. I remember listening to it on the radio as a kid.
re: Why no mention of Jeff Traylor or Charles Huff? There are quality G5 coaches beyond Sumral
Posted by Pascal59 on 10/31/25 at 3:15 pm to ScotlandAve
First thing Huff did when he got to Hattiesburg was tell the team " If I haven't already called and talked to you, you need to transfer." He means business and must be a player's coach because he brought about half the Marshall team with him. I wouldn't be afraid to roll the dice with him.
re: Why is Lane having to ask the Ole Miss fans to sell out this week’s game?
Posted by Pascal59 on 10/27/25 at 8:33 pm to Raoul_Duke
I'll be there. Driving 4 hours. Last game I was at was Kentucky last year. Hoping for a different outcome this time.
re: What was BK doing to get his buyout down to 20mil…?
Posted by Pascal59 on 10/27/25 at 4:37 pm to Crab trapper12
They tried showing him some pics they had of him smoking cigs out behind the ops center. Told him he could have them if he agreed to a reduction. He told them to frick off and pay up.
