I was allowed to grab what I could carry from my office and was then escorted out of the building.
I started receiving some packages this week from them containing some of my remaining things. I had a good-sized collection of Braves bobbleheads and a few nicely-framed railroad prints
Just how much junk did you have in your office that you couldn’t carry most all of it out and it’s taking multiple shipments to get it to you?

You had copious amounts of bobbleheads in your work space?
Oof

They probably fired you for having all those bobble heads and framed pics in a cubicle. That is the companies space not yours.
If you had an office that could be closed from view you can personalize it to the extent you could pack it all in one box you can carry when fired.
If at VP level and up you can do more .

Eh. OP’s situation seems rather extreme. Most situations I’m familiar with have allowed the dismissed employee time to remove their effects. Typically after hours or on the weekend with security or staff present. Or at minimum, removed and boxed them for pickup. Not shipped them locally.
My wife works in education. Someone on her team “was not renewed for the next year” (she was fired for being a complete screw up). She was walked out the door in the middle of the school day, but was allowed to come back a few days later after the final bell with an SRO present to get the rest of her stuff.
That’s not how this works in corporate terminations. I’ve been in financial services for over two decades and whether you’re laid off or fired with cause, it’s the same procedure. You’re escorted out the door with only what you can carry and your access to buildings and systems is immediately terminated and they’re not letting you back in.
My SOP is to only furnish my space with what I’m able to carry out in one trip. This isn’t “home” and these people are not my “family and friends”.

If you are in an ownership position in the company you can do more .
If you are an employee only you have to realize that each payday you and the company are square they owe you nothing

Not sure how large your former employer is but I usually give HR/benefits/whatever people 48 hrs before I start following up at my company

It's because you switched your team avatar from tennessee to the Braves, you sneak. We haven't forgotten.

100% agree. I had really serious chronic medical issues that made me use all my short term disability and also be on FMLA. I also met my deductible/Out of Pocket yearly. They fired me for something I did not do. In fact I will go to my grave believing this. I was with a Fortune 500 company. They do not give two shits about you.

The universe is sending you a message to (finally) put away childish things.
Take the hint and try to start acting as would an adult.
That would include but is not limited to just moving on and putting this issue in the past.

I don't know man, seems like corporate layoffs are getting more cutthroat. Seems to be more of the sign your severance

Take pictures of all of the damaged items and determine replacement and repair costs. Send the photos and demand for what you come up with to HR.

HR works to protect the company. You can send to say you did but you’d have to go through legal action to move the meter. Assuming you care that much about your personal items

100%. Even if you're resigning, you were most often escorted off prem the day of, and they'd just pay you through the notice period at least. I know one PM that has a banker's box underneath his desk he calls his "term box."
Never bring anything to work you can't carry out. C level folks often have rows of books about integrity, etc., to show off to people, but I'm not bringing plants, pictures of my kids, or any of that shite to work.

Small claims court. This is what it was invented for. You don't need an attorney

Probably shouldn't habe turned company property into an extension of your house
