re: I have no idea how BYU fields a competitive football team.
Posted by Raoul Stimulato on 12/27/25 at 7:54 pm to AwgustaDawg
BYU had like a .450 win percentage in their incipience.
They then hired Lavell Edwards in 1972. Since then, they’re about .700 win rate and top 10 nationally in wins overall.
They won another game today.

Total historical wins, eh?
Way to do the work and chisel out some distortive data to conform to your parochial take.
Where is Army situated?

They win a lot of games against programs with no history of winning except against similarly situated teams. They’d be Mississippi State in the SEC
Pretty dismissive take of BYU, imo.
Especially when one considers their qb lineage and innovation in the passing game under Lavell Edwards.
Try getting out of your SEC bubble now and then. The cfb world is a big place.

Instances like this are so ubiquitous these days.
The real question: is it worth confronting a complete stranger over something like this?
I could see an argument for either side.
That decision would likely hinge on my blood sugar levels for that day. If I’m already a little irked, I’m saying something.

Film syntax. Kubrik has it in spades.
See the mannequin scene towards the end of the killing, for example.
Or Danny on his big wheel rumbling thru empty wings of the hotel, from carpet to hardwood and back to carpet. Impeccable sound design.
Or the dialogue free first however many minutes of 2001.
Nolan needs to drop down half a weight class, grab some more casual stuff, and aspire to more of a Ridley Scott level oeuvre imo.

It’s hard for the “flyovers” sometimes to acclimate to coastal customs. They usually mean well.
Incidentally, ate at a crazy cool old school pizza place in Des Moines last week called Fong’s Pizza. The do a crab Rangoon pizza that - shockingly - is delicious.
So go Iowa, I guess.

Yknow it’s been long enough where I couldn’t tell you what type of chop.
But damn is it good.
Just a great New Orleans restaurant all around.
Enjoy, friend.
