I don’t follow Meta so don’t have an opinion on whether it fits their strategy/DNA

You’re assuming they have an overall strategy. META just seems to wander around sticking their toes in things still living off Facebook and Insta money.
Dude..we kick arse at everything else. Give the rest of the world something to be proud of.
That keeper running out of the box and getting pantsed was something I never even saw a middle school team do.
I don’t know much about soccer strategy, but if your dude gets loose on the side shouldn’t somebody run up to be there for that cross kick?

What? We need Latinos. 20M illegals in the country and this is the best team we can field?

Imagine if every defensive back and wideout in the NFL grew up playing only soccer. We would dominate.

Would high stepping down the field and dancing after a goal draw a yellow card?
Regulating companies from using chemicals that won’t kill us or give us cancer is a good thing.

If we had serious adults running DC that would weigh the cost and benefits of regulations we’d be fine. But we don’t.

This is why we have asinine restrictions on electricity supply, no new gas refineries since the 60’s and Toyota having to do away with some of the best drive trains ever produced.

In fact, I’d say 50% of the regulations that frick stuff up are environmentally driven to force an agenda. 40% are driven to create an advantage for some donor or lobbiest and 10% are actually for the greater good.

Years of zero interest rates screwed the housing market and most everything else you can buy with credit.

2008 to 2015. Look at what happened to median home prices during this period. The Fed should’ve normalized rates by 2010 at the latest.
The housing prices where I live have grown to where it doesn’t make sense, but even we bought our first rental the cash flow wasn’t significant. When the prices spiked we sold our second to pay off the first as increases in taxes and maintenance and turnover were tight. We never lost money but didn’t really cash flow either.

Now with one fully paid it’s a pretty sweet deal but we’d have to have 3x the capital to buy one now. Rent to coat would be sub 1% too.

He can straight up put on a show.

And now Journey…hell yeah!

I definitely agree that the insatiable desire for more wealth seems deeper than just wanting money or security.

I didn’t read the book but would like to comment on the above.

I think the focus on wealth is misplaced and comes from an “inequality” perspective where wealth is often the measure. Some people just have personality traits that make them hyper industrious. There are plenty of people like this who are successful but not overly wealthy.

Others who direct these traits in a field that can produce wealth (tech or finance recently) become ridiculously wealthy. But I believe their motivator isn’t to make more money, the money is a by product. Maybe it’s the drive to keep working, being hyper competitive or to have power…but I don’t think it’s wealth. They continue to work, innovate and garner more power (and wealth) because that’s all they know or want to do.

My guess would be that they know the majority of their customers are driven by necessity to be there. If your car isn’t working and they have the part most people will pay an extra % to get it and fix the problem rather than wait or take the chance that what you order online doesn’t work.

Greed, envy and self pity are powerful parts of human nature. You either have parents that teach you to suppress these emotions or you don’t.

Marxists prey on the stupid using this to rise to power. It’s happened over, and over and over….

My wife’s siblings live in Virginia and their neighborhood is hosting a large “counter” Fourth of July gathering to illuminate what some see as hypocrisy in our founding ideals

I’m sorry but I can’t imagine being this eaten up with hate and bitterness. These are not the activities of sane adults.
It’s almost as if there are forces out there promoting animosity among different classes of the population and using that as a means to come to power and later take their wealth.

Nah…that would never happen. This is America. People would never be stupid enough to support taking money from others by force because they’ve been manipulated to think they’re “owed” something.

Damned if I know. I quit watching it around college but do remember the shift to programming reality shows.

I also remember watching Singled Out (?) because of prime Jenny McCarthy. She was obnoxious but smoking hot.

I like some of the 80's music. The big hair and glam was odd but it sold.

IIRC That whole think kicked off with Van Halen and then GNR and Motley Crue hitting big. But I agree that it got out of hand and one of the reasons the hair metal craze crashed. You can only take so much of dudes with makeup and long hair shredding at 100 mph.

The time in the 80’s and 90’s was peak music IMO. Arena rock, hair metal, grunge, early hip hop and the college alternative scene …. and even MTV pop stars ….was a period that I don’t know can ever be reproduced with the money made with over produced and manufactured shite we have today.

I remember in Atlanta when Power 99 flipped from pop to 99X and started playing more alternative and “underground” music. Back then you had no exposure to this music unless you had a friend or buddy clue you in. No streaming and a lot of those bands were in isolated pockets.

It was a great time to be a teenager.
Regardless of if this is true or not, what IS true is our own money was being redirected by govt to create dissent amongst the population.
