You dont have to pay those charges nor advertising fees, etc. You only have to pay tax title and license, the others are negotiable. And unless you're buying something really hot, you shouldn't pay near MSRP.

Just bought a decent trim package 30k out the door . With a lifetime power train warranty , bumper to bumper for 10 years plus oil change and tire rotation in her driveway for 10 years .

All what I was saying is why not put all that into the MSRP to where it is a fixed cost by the manufacturer and dealer to where it is like going to the store and the store has a set price to sell the item.

Take Little Debbie’s for instance, They are marked for 3.19 a pack plus tax. That includes the costs produce it, to ship it to the store, display it, advertise it, and labor check it out. Now some stores try to incentivize customers to purchase them at their store so they may sell it at 2.99 instead of 3.19. Then if you have too many Little Debbie’s and they are about to expire you may sell it for 2.50 on sale.

Take that same business model to the car business instead of seeing all of those line items as add ons creating some notion of wiggle room in the price.

Another thing that some people don’t realize in the car business is that some dealers purchase vehicles under a floating line of credit in which they pay interest on the vehicles on the lot. Some dealers get penalized for having too much inventory by paying interest on inventory that doesn’t sell fast enough. That is why some dealers are so apt to move inventory at the end of the month so they can get a vehicle off their books even though they may lose money on it.

The hardest part of giving up an F150 to go to a smaller truck is the ride. My truck is very comfortable; not sure how any of the smaller ones ride..\
