Except I just built a starter Maverick truck on Ford.com, XLT with the black package for 36k. Base 30k, $3500 in options I upgraded, and the rest is destination and acquisition fee.
That's not awful.

I bought a 2022 for $21k
Then bought a 2023. For $22,500
Both plain Jane XL models.
People were flipping them for 3-4k profit when they first came out.

I remember when a Ford Maverick was a compact car…Mustang’s scrawny little brother.
My single mom had a used yellow Maverick when I was a kid. Looked like this except much worse.

As they have done with all of their products. Complete shite. Never have nor ever will own a Ford vehicle ever.

You’re missing out. I’ve had only good experiences with Ford. Just bought my third Ford last month

Sadly applicable to GM products now. I’ve never seen a company destroy its legacy the way GM has.

All of this is why I bought our last vehicle from Carmax. Easiest car buying experience by a mile. Everything transparent and upfront.

I don’t have either. 1 Lexus and 2 Mercedes Benz.
Never owned a Ford but had a 30th anniversary Trans Am convertible and 2 C5 Corvettes and several Cadillac's all without issues. Now I don’t know about GM it’s been over 18 years since I’ve owned one.

It's not going to get better until we remove corporate protectionism and introduce wealthy auto magnates to a real free market. The US government protects them and their stealership model, and the consumer can get bent for all they care. We should have let them fail in 2008. If you make a shite overpriced product that depends on layers of middlemen for distribution and high interest financing for an average person to afford, you should have consequences when it doesn't work out. That's not a sustainable business. Instead, YOU, as in YOUR tax dollars, bailed them out. And they're still doing the same shite today. Let some low-cost Chinese EVs into the market and see how quickly American car companies are suddenly able to reduce prices, and how loudly the CEOs in their ivory towers beach and moan about it.

Anecdote, but I saw a big manufacturing plant/warehouse near me that has an all-Maverick fleet now. Maybe that's who is buying them?
Maybe 50 vehicles.

This is on the states, just like liquor laws that keep the three tier system in place. Car dealers are probably the biggest donators to political parties in Louisiana behind lawyers.

I got a brand new 2006 F150 (back in 2006) with leather seats for something like $34,000
Likewise I bought a new 2008 F450
(in ‘08)fully loaded Lariat in Rifle Colo for $46,500
$73,300 in 2026 dollars. I don’t think you guys are making the points you think you’re making.
