You just need to walk in give the salesman a firm handshake and say you’re paying cash.

Dealerships want you to finance the purchase through them. Lot of times you can work out a better deal if you let them finance it for you and then pay the whole thing off the first month. Assuming you were wanting to pay cash to begin with. Make sure there are no early payoff penalties.

Can’t you order a base model if they don’t stock them?

got a brand new 2006 F150 with leather seats for something like $34,000

Shortly before COVID you could get a new super cab F150 XLT 4x4 for mid $30s. I almost bought one off the showroom floor in 2017 for $32k.

I Remember when Mavericks came out you could one for around 26k. I don't need a truck but my oldest is looking for a vehicle.

I bought one last year because I just wanted a cheap truck, paid $28,000 from a dealership in Alabama and they shipped it to me. Cheapest I could find for a similar model in BR was around $34,000

Yeah, both the Mustang and Maverick were based on the Falcon chasis.

On one hand the OT complains car companies wont make simple base models without bells and whistles

Then on other hand they are presented with that model and say “gross”

Bc $34k is too high for that base model

That’s why I bought a $80k truck last month.

I had a 1971 Maverick Grabber with a 302 in it for a while.

I had a 70 (got it used in about 1978, I was 16), but it had the 250 inline 6. Biggest they offered that year model.

I am thinking about switching to a smaller truck, and the Maverick has some appeal for me.

If you spend a penny over 22k for a maverick just hang yourself with fishing wire.

Questionable if it's even a truck. No rear differential and yes, the Ford Maverick is a unibody pickup truck.

Built on Ford’s C2 platform like the Escape and Bronco Sport, so I'm calling it a trans-truck.

You can call it (and the Honda) a truck, be we all know.

Is your oldest above buying a used truck?

The real issue is that we still cling to a dealership model that is protected by state laws.

Time to end that bullshite and allow direct-to-consumer. Elon has sued every state that has laws mandating dealerships.

This. I despise dealerships and salesman. It's the absolute worst way to purchase something.

Yeah, starting in 71, they offered a 302 Windsor. Straight 6 250 was the biggest engine offered in 1970. I think they sold way more of the I6 200 and 250 models.

I’m good for that. End markups and dealer adjustments and that “mandatory packages” bullshite.

It's a truck, just not for hauling anything that big.

If you are planning to use a vehicle as a legit truck, this is not the one you want.

If you want the bed option for small around-the-house tasks, this might work for you.

This is an old man's truck, which is why I am considering one I rarely use my bed and no longer have a boat, but it would be nice to have a small bed for utility reasons.

I had an aunt with a maverick and the Windsor motor. First time I was ever in a vehicle going 100 mph. Those things would scoot

It too was expecting this thread to be about the 70s era sedan.
