I Remember when Mavericks came out you could one for around 26k. I don't need a truck but my oldest is looking for a vehicle.

They have 4 at Robinson Brothers. Cheapest one is 36k and they have one that is 47k. That is absurd.

Who in their right mind is gonna fall for that

Manufacturers have eliminated lower trims, and dealers carry few of the lowest trim if any. They make more money on higher trims with more features, so people who want a simple car to get from A to B only are out of luck.

Ford's site says they start at $28K

The Maverick came out in 2021. Is it really shocking that the price went up $2K in 5 years?

You just need to walk in give the salesman a firm handshake and say you’re paying cash. The rest will take care of itself.

The real issue is that we still cling to a dealership model that is protected by state laws.

Time to end that bullshite and allow direct-to-consumer. Elon has sued every state that has laws mandating dealerships.

I don't get the appeal, but several people have them in my area.
I had a 1971 Maverick Grabber with a 302 in it for a while.

Construction and plants are snapping them up. XL work packages you buy now for $31K out the door.

They are really hard to find.

Several yrs ago, like 20, I thought I would be somewhat env conscious and shop for a small truck instead of a full size. I looked at a new Ford Ranger and it was 90% of the sticker of a new F150 and did not get any better gas milage…

That was the end of that folly.

I do this and I've never paid a single dollar above MSRP.

A dealer near me has an XL for 28 and some change, but it is pretty base model gray color and dull wheels.

You can always go to the Ford site, choose your options and it can sometimes match you a nearby dealer.

Really want to get pissed off. See what $20k buys you in China. It's obvious why we ban Chinese cars.
US manufacturers wouldn't sell a car.
The chicken tax keeps us from the cheap small trucks you can get worldwide. Even American brands like the little Ram truck that's all over Mexico. The Ram 700. $19k south of the border not sold in the US.

Dealers don't like cash they'd rather you do in house financing
