For the first time in nearly 15 years, I changed my own oil instead of paying someone else to do it yesterday. Holy shite have I been overpaying for that shite or what!! My wife and I have been paying $80 a car every six months or so for two cars for what seems like forever because I was both lazy and felt it was worth it to pay someone else to do it for me. Mrs. TDs just got hers changed recently and mine needed it as well so yesterday I thought to do it myself, went to YouTube, and learned that it was a hell of a lot easier than I thought.

Cost me less than $30 to do it myself. Five quarts of 0W-30 full synthetic and a filter cost me less than $30 - a $50 savings for 30 minutes of work!

All you soy boys who don’t do this themselves, you need to man up and get it done before your girl leaves you for a real man.

You're paying for convenience. I simply don't want to do it myself.

Its easy if you have a vehicle with high enough clearance to get under it without lift

Otherwise just pay the $50

30 minutes of work to save $50 is a no brainer for you? Sorry, mate.

Just spend the $50 once and buy some drive up ramps and you have plenty of clearance. I've got 4 cars, so I'm not wasting $400-$600 a year on something that takes me 15-20 minutes per vehicle twice a year.

I always have a phobia about getting stuff in my eyes. Using goggles is not great since they fog up.

Easier to pay for someone else to do it.

A lot of dealerships are offering 3 to 4 years of free oil changes to get people to buy cars now.

I've changed my own oil for years. Started when I looked at the filter on one of our vehicles and it had been tightened with a wrench so hard that it took me an hour to get it off.

You can bring used oil in pretty much any container to any auto shop and they'll dispose it for you for free. I use Advanced Auto for that.
