(WAFB) - A contractor employed for the Safe Hopeful Healthy Baton Rouge initiative claims paychecks have been sporadic and unreliable from Mayor-President Sid Edwards’ office since January, a claim Mayor-President Edwards acknowledged Friday. However, Edwards said there are legitimate reasons to explain the situation. Several contracts, including Rodrick Jarreau’s, were signed on December 30, 2024, as Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome was on her way out of office. Edwards said once he took over, he had to make sense of all of it. Now, the WAFB I-TEAM has learned the delays are the result of consultants and other agencies vetting those deals.
