I went to one in rural Minnesota one time at 7am on a Sunday with 0 employees.. just a self checkout open.

I am an honest citizen so paid for my junk but .. I can see why in most locations that's a losing idea.

It was 10 or so miles from South Dakota

All their stuff is poor quality, but cheap, and if you need it, you need it.

They’d annoy me less if their signs weren’t so loud and ugly.

We live between two in the country. One is actually nice except they almost always have a section of freezers or fridges down.
The other is meth/opiodtastic.
I went in for some coffee filters Friday and came out with $40 worth of Legos. But similar sets were 2X at the toy store.

Dodson fish market used to have excellent burgers. Don’t know if it’s still open anymore though.

Still open under different management. A drug rehab facility runs it to provide jobs for people transitioning back to normal life. Burgers are still good.

Who doesn't keep spare batteries around? Who waits until they're on their last roll of TP/paper towels to recognize the burning need to need something now, rather than 2 days from now (Amazon Prime, etc.?)

I have three envelopes left. I could wait until I have none, then panic, and run to DG, or, I can just buy another box of 20 off of Amazon or WM+ now, which will arrive tomorrow. Why is this hard?

To each their own. I have 2 within 5 minutes of my house and I never go in them.

I feel sorry for these people when I see them. Nice, helpful, hardworking people stuck as being a wage slave. I'd rather them be the typical nasty people so I dont feel sorry for them.

One of my nephews took a break from college and worked at a Dollar General for a year. He enjoyed it. He would probably still be there if his dad hadn't made him go back to college.

My assumption is that he’ll be back working over there soon.

2 minute ride on the golf cart for a can of boiled peanuts and a 6 pack of long necks. There is no substitute for that

A well run, clean DG is a rarity. But if you happen to live near one, they are absolutely amazing. A bit of an eyesore, but amazing.
