Lawyers charge by the hour. More time in the courtroom = more money, money, money.

Several years ago I worked with a guy that lost his 16 YO daughter in a car accident. The family donated her organs and one of the saddest things I've ever experienced is when he would bring a letter to work and read it to us about how organ XYZ from his daughter was able to do XYZ for the recipient.

Poor guy would read that and cry (understandably) and it was just so sad to see a fellow human suffering like that. He would tell us that it was helping he and his wife get through the loss but damn...still sad.

And older fellow that moved from the country into 'town' next door to us and was like a grandfather to me. This was in the mid 60's and he had worked in the woods skidding logs with a mule team. Told me once he had been bitten five times.

Other two were guys I worked with. One got hit twice by a cotton mouth while he was way out in the woods on the Calcasieu River and he damn near lost his leg.

The other was pulling weeds in a flower bed and and got popped by a ground rattler. Dude was severe diabetic and had a terrible reaction to the anti-venom. The reaction was way worse than the bite.

Get up at 5:30 to deliver mail on a rural route of 137 miles round trip, six days a week, no vacation, only off for a few national holidays. And never once, let me repeat that....never once did I ever hear him complain.
