Convenience store 5 minutes from house with walmart prices
In and out in 5 minutes buying paper towels, batteries, soap and a mexican coke they had cold by register. Very sweet old black lady cashier that called me love and told me to drive safe because people be crazy out there.
Only thing that sucks is that they got rid of self checkouts presumably due to “changing consumer habits”

I’ve often found DG to be very expensive for many things. I do get birthday cards there though.

They aren't discount. Their shtick is being walking distance from everyone in the country.

One of my nephews took a break from college and worked at a Dollar General for a year. He enjoyed it. He would probably still be there if his dad hadn't made him go back to college.

There's one in Dodson. Dodson.

Fact Check: Dodson does NOT have a Walmart according to Google Maps
Thus, a town or village, not a city, according to my definition of a City.

Dollar General is the closest store to my house. It's only 8 miles. Lifesaver.

Generally (hmmm... I made a joke) they are more expensive than WM, but not too unreasonable. Their store brand white bread is about the same price (pre-Biden WM bread was 82c - now it's 1.42. but that's another discussion). On a few things they're actually cheaper than WM
DG can be for poor people in a food desert, or it can be used on the same principle as Target -- pay a little more to avoid WM.

Dodson is a village by definition anyway.
I believe it is defined as:
< 1,000 people = village
Between 1,000 and 5,000 = town
> 5,000 = city
Dodson fish market used to have excellent burgers. Don’t know if it’s still open anymore though.

What a fricking stupid thing to say.

Dollar General and Family Dollar Stores try to compete but if you've ever been in either you'll wonder why.
Dollar General, for the most part, are orderly and clean, while Family Dollar looks like a tornado has hit it.
And Dollar General is as well put together as the best of a Walmart.
