as far as prices, like any other store, you have to look at what's on sale.
When I drank more soda. they'd do 3 for $3 and I'd load up on ginger ale.
or cheap snacks.

they really are. every time I go inside I think of the workers having to stay there all day. At least put a radio on or something.

but I do frequent one in Morganza when I'm there during hunting season. beats driving all the way to New Roads just for some aluminum pans or cleaning supplies.

Walmart prices my arse. DG is high as shite

DG has some items at or below walmart prices but then they gouge everything else like basically gas station prices. But there are deals to be had. I have one about 1/4 mile from my house and I love it for the convenience and that one actually has produce.

I've think way too much about Dollar General, because I live in the boonies and go there at least 5 times a week.

I think that people's opinion about Dollar General boils down to the population density where they live. If you live in a place with higher population density, you drive by Dollar General and seems pointless and just another low rent place to shop.

But if you live further out, Dollar General is a motherfricking gosend, like when I ran out of coffee the other morning.

I live in a small rural Southwest Texas town. We have one small regional chain grocery store, Family Dollar and DG. The closest Wal Mart is 70 miles away and it is not a super center. Just an FYI, there is now a DG in Study Butte/Terlingua Texas.

I’ve stopped at one on the way to the lake and got a coffee maker for $20. Worked perfectly well and didn’t require hitting a wmt or target that was too far away. .
In laws coffee maker in their motor home croaked out. Had to have that caffeine as does my FIL.

Every time I think there are a lot of trashy customers at Walmart, I walk into Dollar General and am forced to recalibrate.

They're the modern version of the mom and pop country store.

Nice, helpful, hardworking people stuck as being a wage slave.

You do realize most of the dollar general stores are stuck out in the middle of no where. So making more than a slaves wage is asking a lot. Heck being a manager at one of these places might actually be a good gig compared to the alternatives.

They aren't discount.

They are if you shop the clearance aisle. Otherwise, it’s normal prices.

DG prices on certain items are high and they are notorious for having smaller containers.

However, convenient af if you live in the sticks.
