I’ve never been to a Dollar General that wasn’t dirty with shite all in the aisles, merchandise waiting to be shelved. Like a Mexican flea market.

I have one closer to me than any convenience store. But I refuse to shop there after they repeatedly stated that it’s the law that they scan my ID when buying beer.

If you aint using the $5 off $25 and/or $10 off $40 plus their other online coupons on Saturdays, you missing on out on some solid savings for household items that don't go bad.

That’s about a 50/50 proposition with the DG’s in my area. I have noticed that it’s the case less and less in the last year. Maybe they are actually running enough employees per shift now so that one person doesn’t have to check everyone out while they’re cleaning and stocking the store.

Honestly, it's probably the most expensive store over the long run with how you have to replace everything you buy there after a week.

I’m nearly 52yrs old and have never had anyone scan my license to buy alcohol. They can look at my ID, examine it, and see that it’s not a fake ID. Why does it need to be scanned?

What info gets scanned? Where does the data go and where is it stored. I’m sure 5yrs from now when their data is breached, they’ll offer $5 off coupon.

I'm 57 and they scan my ID every time I buy a lottery ticket at the Murphy gas station next door to my office. Its not uncommon. And what info is on your DL that isn't already stored somewhere else? Like the DMV? Hate to tell you, but all your top secret personal info is out there already. You can quit being so defensive. Vigilant? Certainly. But getting all pissy because the state asks them to scan your DL is just being chicken shite.

Please give specific examples because this sounds like more of a Temu complaint than a DG complaint.

One of my nephews took a break from college and worked at a Dollar General for a year. He enjoyed it. He would probably still be there if his dad hadn't made him go back to college.

Would probably make more money as a DG manager than most jobs a 4 year college degree will get you

I was traveling down US 19 in Florida and thought I'd like to have a Dixie County HS tshirt. Pulled into the local DG and they had them. Ugly a** shirt, but I bought one anyhow

Just as an example of the coupons, these are the first five on the digital coupon page currently:

The $5 off $25 is available every week. The $10 off $40 only happens about once every 4-6 weeks. If you get your total close to $40 thats 25% off. There are some limitations, but I think it is phones, gift cards, tobacco and maybe alcohol. The DG coupons do not stack but manufacturer coupons do.

The spend $30 on Procter and Gamble is good also. You buy $30 of P&G products and your next visit you get $10 off a purchase of over $10. It automatically loads on your account. Note it does not stack with the Saturday 5 and 10 off coupons.

For anyone who has never used a store app account at DG you just type in your phone number on the credit card terminal and it applies the coupons. Be sure to get your number in and entered BEFORE the sales clerk hits total, if not you have to get them to back out a step so you can enter it.

My wife thinks I am being somewhat silly, but I always just say I am gettin' over on the man.

I've found a lot of the Clover Valley stuff is very good. Much better than it needs to be given their clientele.

The chocolate chunk cookies and their various trail mixes come to mind.
