Do you think Optometrists are corrupt?

I am near sighted. I feel like every time I go to the eye doctor they don’t give me a strong enough prescription to see clearly fall away. I think it’s so that I’m for sure to come back a year later for a new one, instead of being given a strong prescription that will last several years.
Have any of you done the chart, and seen how clear the chart can look like with really strong prescriptions, , but then they never give you the strongest power. It’s aggravating,
I’m -5…I know I should have a -6 at least

Why don't you sandbag on the test, so you can get stronger glasses?

No

My neuro- op chewed me out when I went to see an optometrist. She tore me a new one. I kind of deserved it as I have some complex eye issues including a brain tumor resting against my optic nerve.

It depends on the person.
I think most of these folks in all different areas church things up some to squeeze a little more out of the consumer to be able to keep up with lifestyles.

I started not being able to see far away. Got worse, got stronger glasses.
Finally had cataract surgery. I now do not wear glasses other than readers which are cheap. Perfect vision when driving, although depth perception is a little wonky, because the inserted lenses are both farsided.

You're a half-wit, but you dont hold a candle to DonJaunMuslim.
So you've got that going for you.

Completely. It's a racket. There's no reason I should have to go back and pay for another exam after I wear the test contacts for two weeks and tell you the script works.

Not sure. But I was referred to an ENT with an issue in my cheek that cleared with antibiotics before I even got in to see the ENT. But, imaging showed the possibility for a sinus cyst. And indeed, the ENT confirmed the cyst and checked for hearing loss which I have. Nothing has changed in four years. Nothing. No change in the cyst and no change in the hearing. Should I really come back every year and why suggest returning yearly. Why not if I have a problem? I never knew I had a sinus cyst and in fact this year he only checked the hearing.
Am I easy money?

Why don't you just ask them to put -6 lenses in your glasses? You're paying for them.

quote:lol what? Your optometrist has you "test drive" your new prescription? I have never done that or heard of such a thing in my 42 yrs. I go in, do the eye test, get my prescription print out and they give me a new set of lenses on the spot based on the new prescription. I order a couple of boxes to my house, and go on with my life. What you're talking about is absurd.

I’ve worn glasses or contacts for over 30 years. The answer is no
