fww - AC's do not make air "cold", they remove the heat from existing air leaving it cooler.
Finally. Only took 4 pgs before someone ITT actually posted something correct.

AC Units function by removing hot air from various zones. When the thermostat detects air that is hotter than the temperature threshold set at the thermostat, it kicks on, which causes the hot air to be pulled through the returns in a home, "conditioned" and filtered by being blown across coils, and then pushed out through the registers.

All the unit is doing is pulling that hot air out of the room until enough of that heated air has been removed and replaced by the conditioned air so that the temperature has been lowered.

The thermostat does not adjust the temperature of the air coming out of the registers to whatever number you set it at. And the unit will not cool the room any faster by setting it lower. It's going to take what it takes to pull that hot air from the room.

Hope this clears things up for some folks.

Now you got me thinking about thos beans
I don't know why this made me laugh so damned much, but it did

Bunch of angry men in this thread.
Completely predictable woman response. Deflect the blame and avoid taking any advice or criticism.

An intelligent person would consider all these different, random people posting from various points around the country all telling you the same thing, and use that information to put 2 + 2 together and realize that maybe they're the problem, and not all the other completely unconnected people coming to the exact same conclusion.
Bingo. Well said. Much more succinct way to say what I tried to say.

I already said that I don't like it when I ALREADY understand something and didn't ask for it to be explained to me.
BREAKING NEWS: No one likes this. Men or women. It has nothing to do with "mansplaining." If someone does this to me, I tell them I already know what I'm doing and don't need their advice and move on with life. But I'm a guy. I guess if I were a woman I would feel compelled to go online and bitch about it and feel personally slighted as opposed to just being a grown up and speaking up when it happens and explaining I already know what the hell I'm doing. But hey, what do I know?
Congratulations A&M. Yall whipped our arse today. No two ways about it.
So far based on everything you've posted it definitely comes across as the SIL is the problem. tOT cant help any more really unless we know whether your mom did/said something to cause this, or whether your SIL is just a narcissistic bitch like she's coming across. The only thing I personally would do would be to have a one on one man to man conversation with your brother telling him to sack the frick up here or to explain his wife's behavior. My guess is you've already done that. Beyond that, just be there for your mom man.
It was 4*F here in Lexington last week. They're saying 60s-70s for Christmas Day.

So we've got that going for us
I will say, I have actually thought about this before OP. My family has a large amount of acreage in Mercer Co here in Kentucky. It's a few miles away from Perryville.

As any of you fellow Civil War buffs will know on here, there was a significant battle fought at Perryville in 1862. Braxton Bragg had brought Confederate forces into Kentucky to try and help sway the Commonwealth to the Confederacy. (We had seceded and had a Confederate government set up in Bowling Green, with the Union government remaining in Frankfort. The state legislature and the governor did not see eye to eye on the issue of secession at the time when everyone else in the South began seceding, not to mention Kentucky was almost immediately occupied by Union forces once the war broke out. But I digress...)

Anyway, Buell and Union forces tried to intercept Bragg at Perryville. At the end of the battle the CSA held the battlefield resulting in victory, but due to supply issues, had to leave, which pretty much resulted in the end of the Confederacy having a hold in Kentucky.

I say all that to say my dad has found various Civil War items on our property over the years. My favorite is a cannon ball that I used as a kid for weight lifting to stay in shape for baseball  I always wonder how those items got there, who left them, etc. We go down there in the fall every year and cut down firewood from the copious amount of trees on the property, and I do often think of the Civil War veterans who clearly passed through our property and left things behind and probably lost their lives a few miles away probably days after they dropped them.

What if I told you I was an Ohio State fan....then what?
Then I'd tell you to frick off and go post on a B1G message board instead wasting yours and our time on an SEC board.
Exactly. Im so sick and fricking tired of hearing whether 18-13 Ole Miss or 19-12 Virginia Tech belong in the NCAAT every damn year. Who fricking cares? Neither of them do. We're trying to crown a champion and yall want to bitch about which team that barely finished above .500 in their conference gets in or out

The "football playoff needs to expand" crowd can't see the forest for the damn trees. Four was enough.

I liked Penny as a kid when he played for the Magic, but man has he been greasy as the day is long as HC at Memphis. No respect for him now. Glad to see State get the win.

I've been watching college basketball all day today, not because I'm a Kentucky guy, but because the football matchups were all garbage and not worth my time.

Really impressed by what I saw from Houston today. Every year it feels like Sampson is knocking on that natty door. He's gonna break through eventually.

re: G5 needs their own playoff

I tend to agree, folks wouldn't. Perhaps in larger numbers than the FCS gets, but still to your point, it's pale in comparison to the real playoff.

And it doesn't matter. It needs to happen. Having Tulane and JMU in is a farce.
It's pretty much always been this way. I read every day , but most days only post once or twice if even at all. The incessant troll posts do get old, I just skim over them. Some days I'm froggy and like to fire back. It is what it is I suppose.
