If you're rich, LA, SF, and New York are great.
Atlanta, Denver, Houston, San Diego, and Seattle are all good major cities that aren't insanely expensive.
It's not for everyone though, for me it's having the ability to be right next to everything. I can pretty much walk to a bar or restaurant if the weather is nice

Seattle cost more than LA.
Vancouver is probably the best city in North America, but insanely expensive similar to Seattle.
Atlanta, Charlotte, and Houston are probably best bang for buck cities.

I have a 25 minute commute to work and I live over a mountain and 10 miles from Huntsville proper and I’ve never enjoyed the idea of living out of the way more than I do today.
I think I might intentionally live a decent distance from any city I’m working in from now on in light of everything 2020 brought.

Most big cities are light years better than the 70s, which was probably the bottom. Compare New York then and now. Just one example.

Sure things cost more because there are better paying jobs than what your used to in Baker or Zachary. Parking is usually not an issue because you don’t have to drive. Schools in many of these places are great. Your picture of urban decline was very true in the 1960’s during the time of white flight and it lasted through the 1970’s. By the 1980’s the comeback started in many places. People saying otherwise have either never lived or spoke to people who live in cities. The fear in the words you all use is palpable. The I want to live in a “nice” place 50 miles from a city is the voice of a beta. Cucks want to live in a fortress in the woods with an arsenal for protection cause dem city people might come by is kind of sad.

The appeal of big cities is the culture, entertainment, dining, sports, etc. all within arms reach.
If I’m a multimillionaire, would I rather live in a city and be able to spend as I please on all those nice things? Or would I prefer to sit home every night watching tv in my rural home that’s 50 miles away from the closest movie theater and bar?
