re: Olympic opening ceremony was as bad as we feared
Posted by TejasHorn on 7/26/24 at 7:41 pm
I was on this board the opening ceremony for London.
People here were calling for the Luftwaffe to return.
Now it’s France... They’ve been weird for 500 years....
re: Trumps odds down to -145
Four new Fox News polls released Friday show that Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump are locked in margin of error races with no clear leader in the following races:
Wisconsin (50% Trump to 49% Harris)
Pennsylvania (49% each)
Michigan (49% each)
Minnesota...
re: Are AI Girlfriends The Future For Most Men

My wife has 3 single friends all around 40. They hardly ever go on dates. They play around with apps or whatever but quickly get discouraged. They have friends who have friends, etc. in the same boat. There’s a lot of single women out there.
These are professional women who make a good living. Th...
re: Can we keep politics off this board as well?

The poli board is a MAGA cheer board. It’s not really a place to ‘debate policy’ or whatnot.
That’s why you see some occasionally legit topics for discussion on the OT or money board etc....
re: Do the Olympics not have the same luster or are we missing mega star athletes in them?

We have endless entertainment now and the impact is most apparent in the ‘special event’ sports that come around every year or 4 years.
Auto racing, like the Indy 500 and Daytona 500 were huge deals when I was a kid. So was the triple crown in horse racing. We had 4 or 5 channels and no internet....
re: New Swing state polls
Posted by TejasHorn on 7/25/24 at 8:09 am
Those polls are actually the reverse of what everyone including Dems were expecting. Most were expecting a DNC cat fight for the nomination due to her lack of popularity in the party itself.
It’s ‘strange’ how all the wagons lined up so quickly. Nevertheless, Kelly and the DNC will bump those mor...

Uh, that’s not what that poll says at all.

You can be certain they are workshopping, polling and focus grouping the shite out of this decision in swing states. Whether she likes them or not.
Versus a guy that just appeals to the innermost core of the base....
re: Rose Bowl wants to stay out of CFP semifinal rotation and keep traditional Jan. 1 date.
Posted by TejasHorn on 7/24/24 at 3:00 pm
January 1 used to be the most glorious day of the year. Better than Christmas.
Every bowl was a huge deal even if it wasn’t directly tied to the NC discussion.
Now it’s a day to be hungover before going back to work. Thank you college football for completely ruining things....
re: Does any VP help Kamala?

It’s going to be Mark Kelly.
Nobody votes for President based on who the VP is.
Not as true these days in our hyper-political world. Historically it’s mattered less but see Kennedy/LBJ and Reagan/Bush I. Both wanted Texas/South....
re: Kamala is dragging Biden down and should be replaced as his VP running mate

The worm seems to have turned for Kamala. Will be interesting to see if it continues.

Money is no substitute for happiness. The older you get it really crystallizes. Life is very short. Don’t make it hell on yourself or waste time with sociopaths....
re: Will 30 year mortgage rates ever see 4.5% again?
Posted by TejasHorn on 7/23/24 at 12:33 pm
1982 laughs at today’s rates. 5% is historically very good if we inch back closer to that.
Prices don’t appear to be going anywhere but up though. Kudos to all who bought at 2.5% for half the price of the market now....
re: The Stock Market hates uncertainty, and they just got a shiteload of it.

Harris will reinvigorate the soccer moms but drive away some other segments.
Agree with OP there is more uncertainty in the market as we’ve already seen Trump and Biden as president for 4 years each. ...
