American Cities have been in decline since the late 1940s. The only thing of value they have left is their historical buildings and monuments (for now).

Just a few months ago there were posts from city dwellers about how great it is to be in walking distance of restaurants and bars, how there's always something to do. Rona and riots seems to have put the kibosh on it.
