Lulz. Most urban cores have been seized by new money over the last twenty to thirty years. The last decade has seen a major renaissance of virtually every urban area of value in the US. Poors are being pushed away from city center en masse.

I'm visiting my family in a very small town in rural Oklahoma and I'm loving the pace of daily life and the kindness of the service industry around here. Big city is 50 miles away if you need something special.

Correct. But I think that trend will end and maybe reverse. How far remains to be seen. Post-Covid changes and a realization that city government is not going to protect you or your investment will have people rethinking this. As someone with a second home in a big city, it has my attention.

If you make a decent white collar salary cities are great. NYC, Chicago, LA, SF, Atlanta, Dallas, Boston are all fantastic if you aren’t a poor.

A lot of cities have different types of undesirables. Portland has a combination.
But oddly enough..weirdest transient I ever came across was on Decatur st in 2005. Looked like santa claus but if he had been on heroin for 20 years. I was hammered and waiting on someone who was walking from Flanagan's. We sat out in front of Angeli's and I listened to him talk about his military service in Vietnam, his alien abduction and where he knows where multiple female bodies are buried along the interstate 10 in Arizona and new mexico. I gave him a $5.

Not really, most segregate the poor from the wealthy. They need the taxes so they keep the riff away away from the areas that produce tax income.

If I had enough money I would. At the same time I could live in a log cabin in the woods and visit major cities every so often and be just as fulfilled.
