there are many big cities that are incredible in about every way. unfortunately, most of these are not in the USA and very expensive places to live.
just a few examples: singapore, oslo, stockholm, gothenburg, geneva, zurich, lucerne, sydney, melbourne, perth, adelaide, canberra, wellington, auckland, christchurch, sapporo, kyoto, edinburgh, dublin, copenhagen, vienna, quebec city, vancouver...
even in non-luxury destinations the cities can be perfectly fine in just about every way to suit your needs. you can live a life of paradise in chiang mai or boston or phoenix or (insert city) if you simply have common sense about where to go and where not to go.

I can look at the Harris county elections?
They run margins that are ridiculous leftist now and most of those who do vote red do so quietly given the current cancel culture. Compare that to living in caddo parish. You are about 50-50 chance of running into a red or blue voter and neither one has to fear being vocal about their views.

Harris county is fairly evenly split. Houston proper is when the higher liberal concentration is found.
I met like one vocal liberal in all my time in Shreveport.

I live in downtown SD and for one night people broke some windows. Riots are not some widespread issue here.

So a county that goes by 15 points isnt "ridiculously left" But a parish in which the republican candidate loses is a bubble of conservative thought.

Im going on personal experience, voting trends and current events.
Im am more likely to encounter someone voting for Biden or Hillary in Caddo Parish than Houston or Dallas metros and Houston and Dallas are considered conservative for a large metro area.

I made a statement backed up by facts that rural counties with minor cities are more diverse in voting and thought than major metro areas and backed it up with facts and in fact get told that a blue voting parish is a bubble of conservatism.
