all of that is still true
admittedly the outlook is bleaker at the moment
but in the southeast especially, rural areas tend to be dull, if not outright bad, and the number of high-quality suburbs has been declining in the last decade

The close to city suburbs are a good happy medium between trailer parks and meth, and overcrowding and violence.

Nobody is saying its perfect, but Seattle and Portland are both good cities.
The OT would probably like Boise and SLC, which I hear are both nice.

I did notice that the homeless in Portland, although plentiful, are harmless, when visiting there a few years ago. Just walk around/carry yourself like you actually have two testicles, and no one will frick with you. Not saying you need to mean mug everyone, but just pull your shoulders back and act like you know where you are going. This actually applies to most sketchy areas where the sketchy residents are unlikely to be carrying guns.

I have no desire to live in the middle of nowhere and prefer an urban setting where I can be close to things I enjoy doing. I can walk to a restaurant or to where I dock a boat. Open Ocean is about 20 minutes away or a mountain 30 minutes away depending on if I’m in Colorado or Florida.
I never understood the posters who claim given any option they want to be far away from people with lots of land and pretty of ammo. The more I here it, and repeated misperceptions of DC, NY, SF the more I’m starting to understand where this mindset comes from.
There’s certain people who don’t want to be around people, the more people the more that sense of inferiority grows. Outside of the echo chamber where everyone shares the same DNA the world is a scary place. This fear or major cities is a cuck mindset.

The area I live is admittedly a shithole, but as long as I have an internet connection and a satellite dish I'm good.
