I was a huge Bourdain fan. I remember sitting in my office at work when I found out he died and was just floored. As time has went on I revist his work alot and have changed a little on him. He really was a pretenious arse. He tried to come off like he wasnt but he most definately was. This leads me to the belief that he played a part on tv but in real life he was likely someone I wouldnt care to be around. I may be wrong but its kind of where Ive landed with him. Still love his shows.

Like alot of people are saying on this thread...his suicide hit me. He lived my dream life. To travel, eat connect and write about it...and to write the way he did just spoke to me. I think it speaks to how deep some pain can be...to have all that and still end it. RIP chef

He seemed like a cool guy and all.
Knowledgeable, witty, charismatic, intelligent.

But, this statement:

quote:

but he is my generations (30years old) Hunter S. Thompson.

Could be in the running for most ludicrous statement on TD in 2024.

His Louisiana episodes were very good, and respectful, unlike most Hollywood/media portrayals of Louisiana culture.

He was an artist. And all the best artists die young.

He gave Waffle House credit for what it was. I respect him for that.
