re: What would Fort Polk be renamed to if the OT was in charge of it?

Fort 3125... Or some other number designation. Naming places after people makes other people act like idiots.

It will be interesting to see how this affects the conflict in Ukraine, particularly Iran's production of Shahed drones.

Doesn't matter much in mid-June. A commitment is now just a jumping off point for bids.

Ethiopian bible is probably closer to the original than what you see now.

Luke, Leia, and Han. It is their story. Everyone else is a part of their storylines.

When I worked construction 27 years ago, there was not a single Latino on our crew, or on most of the ones that I saw in the plants. What I have seen is that many of the black workers, who had entry level helper or laborer positions, are the ones that have been replaced.

This is a tough one. Every kid in the United States knows what Khan Academy is. Whether or not they know who Sal is, I'm not so sure.
re: Pope Leo bends the knee to China

The Catholic Church has a commission that includes Chinese government officials that approve the appoints in China. Part of the agreement is that the Bishops that are chosen will stay in their lane and not speak against China's authoritarian regime and human rights violations. It is a complete sellout. China has even create its own diocese and appointed bishops without Vatican approval, but the Vatican did not denounce it. They are selling out their ideals to put buts in seats and enrich the Holy See.

Old Major is modeled after Karl Marx with a little Lenin thrown in. The other characters are modeled after people in early 1900s Russia from Nicholas II to Stalin, to the Russian citizens who fled to other countries after the revolution. It is 100% about communism
Communism is the vehicle, yes, but not the destination. Capitalism is blamed just as much in the novel (represented by the bad farmers). Orwell even wrote an essay called "Why I Write" in which he said that every word he writes is against totalitarianism. He was a democratic socialist, so he blamed both ends of the spectrum equally. He was, however, specifically anti-Stalinist.
The CIA pushed subtle changes to the story. Old Major, for instance, is modeled after Churchill in the film. His overthrow represents the rise of communist sympathies in Western Europe. The ending of the film is significantly different. The book puts the capitalist farmers and the communist pigs under the same totalitarian umbrella (playing, and cheating at, cards). The CIA added the animal revolt at the end of the film showing that communist leaders should be overthrown by the people that they duped. They also made sure to differentiate between the good farmers (capitalists) and bad farmers (dictators).
re: Where is the idea coming from that the ICE arrests in Los Angeles are illegal?

It is called "Agitprop". It is as strategy developed by the Soviet Union. They would stage events and crises through lies and propaganda meant to illicite outrage from the opposition. The opposition would then overreact, and would be labeled as the true villains.

a movie that perfectly explains why communism doesn't work?
The book is about totalitarianism. The CIA financed animated film is about communism.
re: ADHD and clutter
Posted by Locoguan0 on 6/11/25 at 7:50 am
The disorganization is attributable to ADHD. The behavior is attributable to being an a-hole. He has to be willing to improve. He should also be medicated, if he is not.
There is a real psychological phenomenon called horizontal surface clutter theory. Basically, when we see horizontal surfaces, we see available space for organization. Poor organizational methods lead to clutter. The only way to deal with this is to embrace better organizational methods, reduce horizontal surfaces by using vertical storage (my office desk has several pegboards with labeled bins and hooks), and to actively address clutter before it happens by having scheduled "micro de-cluttering". (I follow the 2-minute rule. If you can take care of it in two minutes or less, do not delay, do it right away. An example would be to not just set your mail down. Look at it, put it in the right place, toss the junk. Takes less than two minutes.)

And the next Dem will change it back. It is a fricking waste of tax dollars. Just name it after the area and be done with it.

One. April 2026, but it has to pass both levels.

Hilarious that someone would downvote this.
Yes, there was a thing called the Civil Rights Movement, and yes, Baton Rouge participated.

The whole state or just EBR parish?
It has to pass a state majority and a parish majority. Any bill that directly affects less than five parishes has to be approved locally.
