He gave Waffle House credit for what it was. I respect him for that.
THAT I respect him for

Steve Irwin getting killed by a stingray was shocking.
Bourdain killing himself while beating off in a hotel room with a belt tied around his neck is just weird.

Yes for sure. Excellent view of the world and himself in that world

I think about that dude several times a week.

Yes.. him and Robin Williams.

I would recommend the book In The Weeds by Tom Vitale, Bourdain’s producer. Behind the scenes look at the whole magilla.

What I miss about him is he dgaf about what anyone thought about what he said. He was real. He would have gotten a lot more crap doing this if he were still alive and he probably would have just quit and I wouldn’t have blamed him a bit. He was never going to conform.

Plain and simple,.he was a brilliant yet tortured man seeking a fulfillment we as fans and viewers of his on camera life assumed he achieved. However, it was the cavernous twat of Asia Argento that pushed a man on the edge right over it. To learn a woman you give all your heart to has been lying to you and spending her time grooming and seducing an adolescent boy is a tough one to deal with (look it up). Still not a decision I would ever make...but the poonanny can and will drive you crazy!

Boudain’s greatness was how deep he went.
He didn’t show you the travel guide version of a place and talk about the things in it; he showed you the reality of a place and revealed its soul.
It was really a show about geopolitics and culture. Food just happened to be the anchor point around which a greater show was built.

This. I like his work and am a huge No Reservations fan, but the dude was an a-hole.

This opinion of him was generally only held by folks incapable of spelling the words pretentious or definitely. Lawd!

His New Orleans episodes are the best

We watched every episode of No Reservations. My 3year old used to walk around the house saying Nooooo Reservations all the time.

Bro’s last series had too much political content. Content that certain folks wouldn’t appreciate.

His trip to Croatia was my favorite and made me want to take a trip there. Dude drank wine in the wine cellar until he passed out at the table.

Maybe wait another 3-4 pages to throw this out there for a third time, might actually land.

The only celebrity death I ever cared about.
For me, he and also Phil Hartman, Chris Farley, to name a few, but not many for sure. Kelly Preston too.
Bourdain was someone I would probably disagree with about a lot of things, but dang it he was just so cool and genuine to watch.
