this. if it was a real fight to death then human has to play dirty. People underestimate how strong a big dog is, and how much pain they can take. Unless you are mike fricking Tyson, i can guarantee you that you are knocking out a 100+ lb dog who is hell bent on killing you with a punch. That's if he doesn't grip your relatively slow moving fist in its crushing jaws.
A fit and relatively strong male would need to get the dog in a bad position to choke it to death, rips its eyes out, or render one of if its limbs unusable. You are assuredly getting bit and latched onto in this process, so its not like your coming out unscathed.

Get out: dont get me wrong, i like the movie, but the sheer amount of acclaim it got was ridiculous. it was a solid 6 or 7 / 10 but at the time people were making it sound like it was the best horror movie ever made
