re: About that herd immunity

So if you get the actual disease and don’t get immunity, why do you think there will be a vaccine (depleted disease) that will give you immunity?
Here’s the reality, there’s likely never going to be a good answer other than just live a healthy life and move on.

I never said I believed him or didn't believe, I was repeating what he said yesterday and that he doesn't think that getting reinfected will be what happens to the majority of people. You can literally find anything on the internet to support your argument when it comes to this virus.

Do you clowns think you have antibodies floating around for every single virus you have beat in the past 20 years?
T-cell immunity is a thing.

Those of you screaming for herd immunity, may need to re-think that.
It is kind of a pipe dream anyway considering that it would require a huge number of people to get the virus to develop antibodies, and would also require the virus not to mutate, etc.
We still don't have herd immunity to the ordinary flu. What makes anyone think we will suddenly develop herd immunity to this virus?

This dude is terrified of Covid-19 but is willing to run out and get the first iteration of a rushed vaccine.
You can't make this shite up.
My kids' pediatrician won't even offer the vaccine when it first comes out for exactly that reason.

Thank you for destroying your party's response to this virus. Can we get back to normal life now?

I don't know of many "screaming" for herd immunity. I know a bunch who say to let the virus run its course just like we do with influenza.
The only people screaming are the timid, scared types, who think we can save ourselves with masks and isolation. But thats not a viable

What will they say when the vaccine ( never had a covid vaccine) doesn't work 100 % of the time.

How do you know? There's going to be no concensus on whether the vaccine actually works. So you're going to blindly get a shot that may or may not work that could have side effects that you may or may not know about. I'll pass on that until I have more conclusive data.
I'm going on the understanding that a vaccine will be tested and peer-reviewed and good to go. Lots of resources going into this process. If it looks like some shady stuff is being done, then I'll have to re-think my position, for sure.

Well that's certainly been the case these last 6 months with all the shite they've already said. Almost everything regarding the virus has been flip flopped several times.
I'm fine with the data being inconclusive, but don't act like what you are saying (as in anyone) is proven fact.

Yeah cause we have never been lied to before. This ends in November win or lose.

These studies are not controlled at all and focus on looking at a collection of results.
Without a controlled study, these are somewhat meaningless for drawing any real conclusions.
That said, viral load has a huge impact on developing long term immunity. Getting a lower load and fighting it off as asymptomatic will not yield a strong response in most cases.
Still there is no guarantee that a heavy load and getting very sick will lead to long term immunity either. People just need to practice being safe and clean overall to avoid it. Vaccines will be shots in the dark given it is mutating rapidly.

There are simply no documented cases of someone being infected with covid, recovering, and then being infected again. None.
There are people that show up positive several times, but no documented cases of someone being re-infected.

Asymptomatic people dont need immunity if it doesn't affect them, isn't that basically what immunity is?
Posted on 7/8/20 at 10:46 am to LSUFanHouston
Sooo if you can’t develop and sustain antibodies then what the hell good is a vaccine going to do for you anyway?? Lol
Posted on 7/8/20 at 10:46 am to LSUFanHouston
So those who are susceptible to complications will be immune while the rest might get it once a year and run fever for a couple days.
