About that herd immunity

So if you get it bad, you probably will develop some long-lasting antibodies, but if are asymptomatic (or have very mild symptoms), you probably won't have long-lasting antibodies.
The vast majority of people who get Covid (who are not old or don't have serious other problems), are asymptomatic or have very mild symptoms.
Those of you screaming for herd immunity, may need to re-think that.
We are going to just have to find a way to live with this, and when the vaccine comes, take the goddamn shot, if you ever want to be able to hang out with your elderly grandparents or your fat friends.

The study found that just 5% of those tested across the country maintained antibodies to the virus, in findings published by the medical journal The Lancet.
The study also found that 14% of people who had tested positive for coronavirus antibodies in the first round of testing no longer tested positive in subsequent tests carried out weeks later.

"Immunity can be incomplete, it can be transitory, it can last for just a short time and then disappear," Raquel Yotti, the director of Spain's Carlos III Health Institute, which helped conduct the study, said.
Other researchers said the study corroborated findings elsewhere that immunity to the virus might not be long-lasting in people who develop only mild or no symptoms.
"No symptoms suggests a mild infection, which never really gets the immune system going well enough to generate immunological 'memory,'" Ian Jones, a professor of virology at the University of Reading, said.
Jones added: "Anyone who tests positive by antibody test should not assume they are protected. They may be, but it is not clear."

Yep. This is not the path forward. "herd immunity" appears to be a myth.
I hate the phrase "herd immunity" as much as "flatten the curve".

Ehh, I'm not interested in taking a rushed and inconclusive "vaccine" for something that isn't going to make me sick

At this point I don’t give a frick if I get it. Probably have already had it, still don’t give a frick. Open shite back up and let’s move on with life.

Truly these are the end times.

My sister works in a clinic that has the antibody test. She’s taken it 4 times with 2 positive and 2 negatives. She tested positive for corona the previous month.
The antibody tests currently out are worthless.

But you are still immune. Almost no doubt about that!

So if you come down with a virus that gives you 0 symptoms you may be at risk for catching this unnoticeable virus again?!?! God help us all!!!!
Posted on 7/8/20 at 10:25 am to LSUFanHouston
Then why the frick hasn't anyone had it twice?
Also, why has it apparently ran it's course in Europe, and the Northeast?

I'm just gonna say what I think: if the virus doesn't hit you hard enough to spike antibodies, it's probably not highly communicable from you.
Now frick off.
Now frick off.

Its a different study everyday. These "professionals" all speak over one another.
CDC says one thing, WHO says another.....
then all the in between things...
doesnt matter how many new cases, people are not filling up hospitals and dying in masses.
we have to get this country running again, those that are high risk should act appropriately.
The rest of us need to work.

I honestly think people are just making up statistics
There just is not enough history to accurately predict what will occur
