Attendance for the Fiesta bowl was terrible compared to other NY6 games.

I’d atttribute this to both teams being located incredibly far away and Phoenix not exactly being a cheap place to get to. Every other NY6 bowl game (to the best of my knowledge) appeared sold out or very close to it. The fiesta bowl had about 60% attendance.

Considering the teams/fanbases involved in the other games, that's not surprising.

Tickets were selling for literally the minimum allowed on stubhub.

Glendale isnt close at all to either team and it has no tradition for either team

It was a no brainer that would be the least attended game

1. Atlanta is in a border state to Florida

2. The rose bowl is the rose bowl

3. Nola is in a border state to texas and an easy drive to Georgia as well

Also the time the game started out there. 11 a.m on New Year's Day.

Interesting. Isn't UCF one of the biggest schools in the nation? I thought the undefeated and previous National Champs would show up.

Whole lotta excuses being made by LSU fans up in here. What other one can we think of? How about the traffic was bad in BR so we couldn't make it to the airport? Raining?

Fiesta Bowl has done poorly for a while now. It's clearly a tier below the other big bowls at this point in terms of desirability.

LSU fans dont even fill their own stadium half the time.

No conference affiliations and getting stuck with the remainder teams every time they don't host the playoffs is the reason.

Not an excuse, but a fact. No one wants to spend a lot of money to see LSU play UCF.

I expect the same for the NC Monday. Flights and hotels are ridiculously overpriced. Don't be surprised to see empty seats in Levi Stadium.

it was an expensive trip against an opponent no one was exactly pumped to play with no real stakes...you can call it excuses but not surprising at all it wasn't a hot ticket

I tried to buy tickets for my buddy and his step son. Buddy is a vtech fan and the kid just moved to phx from Orlando. Still 0 interest in driving all the way out to Glendale from Scottsdale to watch it

Such a terrible stadium and location for the national championship game. shite, Lucas Oil would've been a better choice.

Wish they would drop the dumbass conference Tie-Ins. Bunch of fun teams that could’ve been in that rose bowl besides Washington that plays there all the time regardless. Some of these matchup are so stale.

Let teams View it in the lense of a neutral site game that’ll make them more money, and then go back to doing more Home and Homes with programs for your OOC schedule

I had zero desire to fly all the way to Arizona during some of the worst traveling times of the year to watch us play central florida.

If that's seen as an excuse then so be it
