Who the hell wants to fly to PHX for new years eve, only to have to get up to watch an 11am local kickoff? Hell you cant even go to vegas for NYE and then get to the game the next day.

I have had zero interest in traveling to any LSU bowl that isn't a playoff game or really close to where I am (Houston or Dallas). Before the loss to A&M I only had intentions of requesting for the Cotton Bowl in the outside chance LSU snuck in). Orlando to face Iowa/Penn St? Pass. Liberty Bowl vs Okie Lite? I'm good.

I have found that I enjoy traveling to the week 1 or 2 destination games far more than I do traveling to a bowl game missing 1/2 the guys I'd pay to watch play.

Such a terrible stadium and location for the national championship game. shite, Lucas Oil would've been a better choice.

Lucas Oil is pretty close to a perfect stadium

Could not be easier to get there and then get inside. There isnt overload of nonsense in the concourses and shitty designer choices that will be out of fashion in 10 years from now like some of these artsy monstrosities in the last couple years. There is no bad seat in the place and everyone feels right on top of it all because of how vertical it is.

Fiesta Bowl has done poorly for a while now. It's clearly a tier below the other big bowls at this point in terms of desirability.

On the way back from the game, my brother and I were talking about that. Between us we have been to the Sugar, Cotton, Peach, Citrus(Cap One), and Music bowls, all of which offered more for the fans perspective.

UCF is a commuter school thats known as 13th grade in Florida. Thats why they are so big, they have a 100% acceptance rate.

95% of their students still live with their parents and probably didnt even know they were playing

I think LSU fans would've traveled well for Michigan. I wanted to go yesterday until I started checking flights

Geographically it want close to either. Both teams not being full strength killed a lot of the luster as well.

Put LSU-UCF at full strength in the music city bowl and you probably have a pretty good attendance.

Sugar, Peach or Orange and a probable sell out with both at full strength.

Might want to pump the brakes on academic shite talking when it comes to LSU as a whole.

LSU fans dont even fill their own stadium half the time.

leaving after half may be true.. but they fill the stadium

Any ways, this bowl issue is likely because a team like UFC is in it. Not much tradition and then it’s way out west..

This game easily sells out if it’s the sugar bowl or something similar?

Lowest attended Fiesta Bowl in 40 years. Wow.

where did you see that from?

I'm seeing where yesterday's game had ~69,900 fans in attendance... up a pretty good number from last year's ~61,800 attendance that went to see Penn. St. vs. Washington

I'm still curious as to what a LSU/Texas Sugar Bowl would've brought

damn loss to aTm... I'm convinced if the Tigers close that game against the Aggies... that would've been the Sugar Bowl match-up... and it would've been awesome

ETA: and our mascot wouldn't have run scared like a giant... ummm... pussy from that little cow

Anyone else pick up some sweet live lines during the Fiesta Bowl? I loaded up on LSU +4.5 and ML +185 after the pick 6.

UCF did have an ad where someone was surprised they were accepted.

The ad was as if it was for Harvard.

The playoffs are doing exactly what the bowls feared would happen and why they held out so long.

Interesting. Isn't UCF one of the biggest schools in the nation? I thought the undefeated and previous National Champs would show up.

The vast majority of UCF alumni aren't even UCF football fans.

They were too disappointed in the Fiesta to really care about a playing a team like LSU. Pretty much exactly what happened with UGA vs Texas.
