re: Tips for floating drywall? Update: did my first coat of mud and tape.

It’s fine. Address any problem areas on subsequent coats. Don’t stress. Mud is very forgiving. You can put more mud then sand it off until you are satisfied.
Great. This is what I was hoping for. I know sanding sucks but since I’m the client, I’m not on any timeline. I can keep working this until it’s right. Just don’t want to start over if I can avoid it.
I’ll send updated pics after the next steps to check progress.

I’m getting divided responses here and on Reddit. Half the people say yeah this is fine and you can work this out in future layers. Half the people say I’m fricked.
So what is it

Love the “RIGHT FIELD SUCKS” at the beginning. Don’t know if left field and right field still battle at the new corporate stadium but the GA outfield sections at Rosenblatt were awesome.
There’s no way they do and I’ve never been there.

Seeing those kids and how they’re dressed takes me back to the 2000s

9rocket knows his floating. I could have used his advice when I floated a couple of bathrooms in my house last year.
My wife asked why I fist pumped when I saw him say good job.

Good job. Use the lightweight mud on subsequent coats, much smoother and easier to work with (and a whole lot easier to sand).
Will do. Thanks!

So I have no idea how bad this is. Hoping it is serviceable and any mistakes can be taken care of in sanding and further coats. I did add a splash of water to the premix and it made it much more milkshake like like some posters suggested. Very smooth and easier to work with. I could tell right away out if the box the mix would’ve been a pain in the arse. Glad I laid down a protective layer as I did get drips. Felt like I got the tape on OK but not pleased with the air bubbles. Tried to work them out but didn’t want to just keep scraping the tape and spill all the mud out. Again hoping if I can just spend forever sanding I can work a lot of the kinks out.

Michigan never the winningest in any decade yet the winningest all time.
Thoughts on Wright Thompson?
Posted by jlovel7 on 6/12/25 at 1:05 pm
So to me he is super hokey and what I imagine a northern stereotype of southern people is. My brother loves him but we are from the mid Atlantic and didn’t grow up in the Deep South. I came to BR for school in 2012 and lived there for 10 years and now married into a Louisiana family.
My brother is adamant that Wright is one of the greatest sports reporters of our lifetime and I told him that’s because he plays really well to the northeast and west coast who basically just see the stereotype, and Thompson leans into that.
Am I crazy and he’s actually very good, or is he a caricature who depends on stereotypes of southern people to push his content to people who don’t know any better?

He’s been terrible with the purple TIGERS jersey. He addressed that too. Anderson likes the purple.
Coach should tell the players to shut up and throw the ball.

Craftsman tools. Maybe not better than 40 years ago but better than 10. Since Stanley bought them they’ve seemed to greatly expand to their offering and don’t break the bank. Their hand tools I’ve bought recently also have brought back the lifetime warranty with no receipt required which is awesome.
All of their stuff I’ve bought has been pretty solid and is still chugging several years later which is fine for this homeowner. I’ve been very pleased with their resurgence. And they are making a good amount of stuff in the USA.

His quote the other day about uniforms and "if you turn that tv on we are going to look like LSU baseball" filled me with joy
Gonna have to push back there chief. He’s been terrible with the purple TIGERS jersey. Our worst one of our primaries.
Jerseys should be white, pins, gold on repeat.

Kyle Peterson needs to be on every LSU game. I forgot all about Perez. Absolutely chode. Stick to MLB.

Yes. Wife’s friend. College educated but from trashy family. She’s pulling in $300k a year. But again, not someone who really has their life together otherwise. But it’s been a game changer for her financially.

Yeah i think she is pretty open about being sexual and real about it. I don’t think she’s being two faced.

Keep in mind that Sabrina Carpenter is marketed towards teenaged girls as well as the 20-something sexually empowered feminists.
This is nothing new in popular music. I listen to some of the songs I listened to when I was a teenager and it’s pretty horrific looking back at it. It is what it is. I turned out pretty normal as did the females who listen to the same stuff generally.
ETA: all pop music is geared towards teenagers and has since the 50s at least. That’s who buys new music and goes the craziest over it. We are seeing the same cycle play over again that’s played since Elvis was devil music.

The OT will eat this up, but who gives a shite. My life is good here, I’m not leaving.
I thought the same. It’s amazing how much bullshite is lifted up from your day to day life after you move that you never realized most places don’t really have to deal with.
ETA: the unrelenting heat and weather + violent crime being right around the corner no matter how nice your specific neighborhood is plus the roads alone were a life changer for my family when we moved. It’s unbelievable anytime I go back how those three things immediately fill me with dread and anxiety.
Not to mention my insurance premiums dropping like a rock as soon as we crossed the state line.
