I’m 30.. Hit $500k recently and expect to hit $1M soon as well. I’m an offensive assistant for a local collegiate football team.

My home has 700k in equity since being built in 2016. I will take perpetual liabilities like that hands over fists.

This is my situation, except I’m in tech rather than banking or consulting. With RSU’s and significant signing bonuses, there are many at my age that are well ahead of me. Software engineering pay makes me sick.

Good example of another pathway. I know software engineers at Facebook and Google making north of $200K base in their 20s. Great callout on tech industry.

These threads are always pretty interesting. Someone posted a net worth link earlier. 30-44 year olds averaged $95,000-$316,000 from a fairly sizable sample; however, most of this board seems to be light years beyond the averages sampled.

MTB posters are going to skew as higher educated and more financially conscious than GenPop. Moreover, these kind of threads will bias towards people who are part of that HNW/Young ‘exception’.

I think it’s interesting to hear how folks accelerated their financial position. Good for them.

A ~ 32 we hit $1m.

I’m an engineer and wife’s in industry sales. Not outrageous salaries, but pretty good ones.

It helps we both started work right after the recession and invested heavily in the market via 401ks.

My salary hasn’t been good until the last 3 years, but my first 5 years at work I never turned down an assignment and it paid off. 16 hr days in the swamp - I’ll do it and took it all to the bank. Money was good, experience was worth it even more.

Similar to you I was lucky with timing and was taught to save. Graduated as Engineer in 2006 and invested heavily through the downturn.

Now 36 with a Proffesional wife who works part time and crossed the 1m mark earlier this year.

Assuming a 6% annual return, rough calculations say I’ll be about 42 to reach a million. That’s assuming we don’t increase our savings rate and neither of us gets a raise.

*Not including home equity.

My income sources: Teaching: $48,000, School coaching: $8,000, club coaching: $32,500, Airbnb: $13,500, rental homes: net even (but dropping four notes with it). Cracked $100k this year!

Work at a FANG and as mentioned heavily compensated w/ RSU’s. Also as mentioned worked 60 hours on a slow week.

What does net worth mean? Does it include retirement accounts, home value, home value - remaining mortgage left?

Pretty interesting to see the responses. Wife and were probably around $250k at 38 when I started a construction business. My latest PFS from a month ago at 42 is roughly $2.7mill.

29 single at ~135k. Appears I'm way behind the game.

Positives: No debt
Negatives: Was a dumb fck for 5 years after college and barely saved anything.
