Truth is, if the kids signed a revenue deal with Ole Miss and got up front money and the contract was specific with details of what the money was tied to, they should pay the money back. I would hope the same for LSU if a player wants to leave and signs a revenue sharing deal. What they shouldn’t be required to do is stay, if the coach they want to play for leaves.

I don’t need any color glasses to see how petty and pathetic Ole Myth looks doing this very publicly just before the season. This could have been handled in a million different ways. As in every fricking case since Kiffin left, they have chosen the angry, bitter, overly-dramatic jilted lover route.

Ole Miss is trying to out aggie the aggots over hiring Kiffin. I've never seen the leadership of an entire organization this butt hurt.
That said, people are held to the contracts they sign on a daily basis. It was only a matter of time before this happened in the NIL era, it just happened to be these salty bastards.

And poor optics. They look petty simply because it's LSU players. I agree wholeheartedly that the "kids" should be held accountable to their obligations. This just seems like the wrong 1st fight to pick.

This isn’t the first breach of NIL contract suit filed in college football. It’s just the first you’ve paid attention to because it is against a current LSU player.
LSU fans/boosters would demand the same thing if the roles were reversed. If you want to try to curtail the transfers/NIL negotiations, this is a means of trying to do so.
LSU is not a party to the lawsuit because LSU is not a party to the contract. The players are. Now, I have no doubt Ole Miss tried to leverage LSU to pay the money with threats of a claim for intentional interference with a contractual relationship (ie tampering). However, I don’t think Ole Miss wants to go there because doing so would open the floodgates for numerous such suits, filed all over the country against many teams. Including against Ole Miss by Clemson and maybe others

The problem isn’t that they are doing it, it’s the timing and the public nature of it… I’m sure there are players from other schools who left and breached contract that you aren’t hearing about

Are you telling me of the hundreds of players who transfered via the portal, these are the only two who were under a contract? Ole Miss really has LSUDS.

Princewill and Harper had signed rev share deals with OM less than 10 days before they left for LSU. They either thought LSU would pay or thought Ole Miss would just let it happen

Not quite, they were the only two who had signed revenue sharing contracts before leaving for another school.
That said, it could negatively impact their recruiting unless all schools start enforcing.

The thing is, that’s what we’ve all been arguing over online but doesn’t seem to be the case. Ole Miss isn’t suing for money back that they paid out. They are suing for enforcement of an early termination clause that was in their contract. Will not be as cut and dry and leans much more into a lot of early discourse that this is a petty lawsuit.

I haven't heard about any cases other than this one where schools have PUBLICLY gone after players who left after breaching a contract. Clemson is stirring it up a bit with Ole Piss and that LB (hypocrite much), but hasn't gone there yet.
So congratulations Ole Piss, you're now known in the recruiting/NIL world as a cheap, vindictive, and bitter school in regard to how you handle these kinds of problems.
They're probably not legally wrong, but most other (and smarter) schools realize this is the cost of doing business in big time recruiting, and let shite like this go or handle it quietly.
