This is one of many problems with NIL

Glasses or not, nobody has actually seen these contacts, so we have no idea whether they should owe OM anything or not. Either way, OM looks really bad doing this which is good for LSU.

This is very easy

If they were paid the money they should return it

If they haven't been paid the money, this is nonsense

That's the thing, they were not paid a single penny of that new agreement.

It's just a "penalty" for breaking the contract, that neither party had held up their end.

Yes, that's not the issue here. They're only doing this public to try to dunk on LSU and their players. That's it. Do you realize there's players that left LSU as well as came to LSU who were still getting paid? Did you see them make public announcements on this. No, they resolved it behind the scenes and in some cases, let it fly. There's a huge difference here if you can't see what Ole Miss is doing. It's pathetic.

nope frick that...a contract is a contract. I actually support OM on this. only way this shite stops is to go after the players from breach of contract.

It’s not that cut and dry. I would like to see the entire contract but they’re not technically an employee so that’s where this gets muddy to try and treat the players with employee level contracts that have a penalty for early termination even when no money has changed hands. I don’t disagree I want there to be changes to keep players from transferring as often but it’s not as simple as some are making this out to be.

I think they got a little far over their skis on this thing, but if the contract was violated I have no problem with them trying to get compensated.

There have to be damages at some point, you keep your potential All American and sign him to an agreement....the transfer decides to go elsewhere based on this info......then you lose the signed guy and his potential replacement. There has to be something to discourage this behavior. It will bite us on the arse just as quick.

I believe so, other funding comes from NIL collectives, which tech. isn't part of the school.

That's my understanding.

If money changed hands yes, but it doesn’t seem to be the case. This is buyout money only and the amount isn’t worth the bad publicity. frick ole miss

i dont have the contract to read, none of us do, but its pretty cut and dry overall

if you took any upfront money for real NIL and didnt live up to the obligations of the contract, you owe the money back

if you took rev share money and the contract reads you must play for OM for the 2026 season and you actually received money up front....you owe the money back, period.

if they broke the contract, they owe any money received. I dont think that OM should receive damages though because not an employee like you said, but a contract is a contract, period.

I have no doubt that's the picture that Ole Miss will try to paint.

It's a picture that some in the media will want to paint. After all, they have to stir the pot and they seem to delight in creating a terrible narrative about Kiffin and, to some extent, LSU.

quote:

Did they even make a single revenue share payment to either of these players, or are they just trying to cash in on an early termination fee because they're still pissed about Kiffin?

I doubt they had made any payments yet but I think the suit is about a buyout clause in their contract. I guess they want to send a message of "buyer beware". Plus, they are being vindictive and trying to add to the "Kiffin bad" narrative. They're bitter about anything concerning LSU.

Sure, but what if no money was received?

they arent employees, shouldnt be any damages that they could claim unless there was specific buyout language and then....shouldnt have signed the contract.

but isnt the whole lawsuit alleging that they took money?

Im looking at this long term. I want LSU to be able to enforce contracts too. I dont want OM or Ohio State or whomever to be able to come in and get our starting QB to leave the last day of the portal after he already signed. Just like i was ok with what UDUB did after their QB reupped.

A contract has to mean something, period. I dont care if they are 18, if you sign, its legalling binding.

It's always frick Ole Miss but if this happened to LSU I'd want them to pursue it.

Even if money didn't change, a contract is signed and the coaches think they have a position group locked in.
They stop recruiting other guys at that position and the player availability pool grows smaller other guys sign elsewhere.

Then several weeks later, when signing day is much closer, these guys decide to break a contract they signed. Leaving the coaches having to scramble to find replacements and probably overpay to get commitments from guys that maybe already committed elsewhere or to entice guys to look at Ole Miss again after they moved on from them.

I'm all for players being paid but if you want to get paid like a professional and sign professional contracts, then you have to deal with the repercussions when you break those contracts.

Should be in the petition. I wonder how much "discovery" would be revealed in this case.

I hope OM and their fans continue to obsess about LSU.That bodes well for the TIGERS in this game.To much emotion will distract them from their game, mistakes will be made and the TIGERS will roll.It happens all the time with want to be programs. In fact if they don’t watch out and not be looking ahead Louisville is liable to beat them.Wouldnt that be funny.

It is what it is. Pay the buyouts and put this in the rearview mirror. Our team doesn’t need any distractions heading into fall camp. It’s a bad look for both us and Ole Miss.

North Central Mississippi Junior College deserves their money from those players, but they should've (Should Have) kept it out of the Media.

The Butthurt Boys are just trying to embarrass LSU and now they've (They Have) just pissed us off more.

US and WE = Current and X LSU football players, current and X Tiger Band members, LSU football season ticket holders and all LSU Alumni.

If you aren't included in one of those categories, you ain't no frickin US or WE. (No matter how much you want to be)
