re: Rod Gainey RB commits to LSU

I actually like this approach. We need depth guys and you’re basically either taking coin flips (these guys) or you’re grabbing established guys that know their ceiling. These at least have upside.

We’re basically grabbing high school guys where Frank failed to.

Still want an elite experienced guy as Berry compliment/insurance, but it’s clear the plan was always to also grab a few of these types.

I just assume it’s a “message board geniuses” burner farming their own content when I read posts this dumb.

Do they have a replacement hired for Weis yet at OC? If I’m a transfer or returning player on offense that would be pretty important in making a decision

Yes, they have an entire new offensive staff who gets to entirely focus on portal, while our staff flies between several cities recruiting, game planning, coaching, with Ole Miss security guards breathing down their necks. It’s a clown show, and the whole world is convinced they’re the victims.

Coleman would be awesome to have, but Baker can manufacturer a pass rush. Lane is an elite play caller, but he can’t manufacture the forward pass without a QB. Lol

This has been a big part of why we can’t stop running QB’s fyi. One of these days we will need a real edge rusher so our linebackers and safeties can do other important stuff.
Are we insecure, or do we just offer up a little bit of the reality that he inherited a hell of a team built by Kiffin.

And thus, no amount of revisionist history from you guys will convince us to not be excited about him doing that here?
It’s almost like paying out a remaining bonus was part of getting a coach to sign on in early December before ESD, and before they went on a playoff run.

Wild concept, more at 6.

“New Orleans is the worst city ever”

Says people in New Orleans all the time because their state offers nothing remotely close.

Idk, but I watched the UT game so I’m not going to count them out yet.
I just don’t really get the complaint. These are these players offensive coaches, if they want to follow them to LSU they will, if not they won’t, only thing to tamper with is letting them know there’s a spot for them.

Outside of that our offensive staff is in there helping them gameplay, while their new staff is able to recruit. We have neither atm.

Saying you have to put a coach in a room to supervise them doesn’t equal them tampering because you’re worried they will. Tampering constitutes tampering.

The most important part about this is that Shane Beamer is all but gone. They just didn’t want to be in this carousel.

If he’s smart, he takes the gig here.

At least he didn’t take 14 days to respond. Although another day may have been wise.

First stop would be Cignetti’s door. If he goes 1 and out, however unlikely, it would be a big inflection point on what he will ultimately ever accomplish there and he’s a very cocky coach that wants to hold a trophy.

You’re also feeling out Dan Lanning.

Just had this. Second time but was worse than the first one. Whole experience from onset of pain to morphine was about 2 hours but holy hell. Worst pain I’ve ever experienced.

This probably explains Drinks crash out the other day about tampering.
You also can have up to 105 scholarship players moving forward, which I don’t expect most schools to touch, but it does make a school like LSU more capable of saving a spot for a good player testing the portal.
We kept all our elite defensive coaches, took all of Ole Miss offensive staff, and Ole Miss got the architect behind the worst rushing offense in the SEC.

I’m on cloud 9.
Doesn’t seem to be in this snippet but Reed does make a comment in this interview about how it’s crazy that Lane left for LSU but that he wouldn’t turn down 7 years &91 million either.

Could be part of it.

We just gave our DC 3.1 million. Hard to imagine the OC was going to accept 2.

Lane better tell Kevin Smith to stay in Oxford and keep Frank. Texas is already taking elite talent out of Louisiana. Let them have the best New Orleans recruiter and see what happens

This is a problem that needs to be fixed organically.

We can’t keep a coach that has 2 RB’s on the roster, underperforming, no 2026 RB commits, and 2 of his last 5 signees kicked off for legal issues because we can’t find another way to recruit the city an hour away.
Every post about us hiring him sounded like all the posts about Blake Baker and Tulane. I wasn’t buying it until someone reputable said something definitive.
