The problem for LSU is if someone promised to buyout the contract for them and did not.
Link?

I didn't see that anywhere, and Ole Miss didn't list any payments being issued in the timelines they released.
I think, ultimately, this will lead to players becoming employees, otherwise, these issues will keep cropping up.
I can't see a buyout being viable if the player received no consideration.
Also, I can't see both players/LSU simply not just paying the buyouts if it's as cut and dry as Ole Miss is alleging.
if there was no $$ exchanged then they will have to show damages.
if rev share starts in aug going to be hard to prove, only way would be the cost of going and getting another player
would be the same as an employee signing a contract and the next day the employee deciding to take the other offer as the new company came back with a better one
much of it is going to be depending on wording but if that is the actual case, I actually like LSU fighting it.

Did they receive any compensation? If they did not then they wouldn’t owe the school any compensation! Note to top players don’t sign any contracts while the season is still going on wait until it ends then you have the leverage.

I’m not sure some of yall know how contracts work.

You sound like an expert on the topic!

I was also reading how the rev share stuff was supposed to be half before the season and half after the season. Something tells me that the numbers that OM is sharing are not the real value paid but trying to force LSU to lose that total amount to their rev share. Like you said all we know is just speculation so we really are just guessing.

Don’t have to be an expert to understand that Rev Sharing contract was for this upcoming season so the players have not received any compensation in regards to that contract! Also caused no damages to the upcoming revenue stream for Ole Miss. But like I said if I was one of the Top players for any team I would wait until the season is over the look at my options. Also if I was a coach in a recruiting battle with Ole Miss I would have a copy of this law hanging on my wall and use it

Sounds like you have no idea how these contracts are written or what they entail, you’re just guessing. You realize they are suing recovery of payment right?
What law?

Bottom line - players' parents want their sons loved, protected, valued, and supported — not litigated and mistreated. Parents and players are looking for a family culture and coaches that are father figures. That’s not a stereotype. That’s a universal truth about parenting, especially in a sport where young black men make up the majority of the roster and face unique pressures. Ole Miss has just changed this narrative. Not only does it have to deal with the backdrop of "Ghosts of Ole Miss", now they have to deal with a non-loving, not caring , "money and the contract are more important than the player" narrative. Not a good look and won't go over well with 17 yr old kids, their parents and their grandparents. Opposing coaches like Lane and the rest of the SEC are going to have a field day with this. I'm sure Pete is pulling his hair out with this news. His job just got harder.

The is no mention of a payment being made! It only says breach of contract! Unless I missed something

If they were paid to play and didn’t. Then it’s legit. Pretty simple need to stem this fukin shite show .

Have you read the thread? This point has already been said 100 times. That point is irrelevant because no $ was paid to them. Thats not the basis for this lawsuit.

I once saw a Golden Sachs commercial

So a coach in the middle of playoffs is going to threaten playing time over a contract dispute for next season?
yes. Absolutely. And if they didn’t say it, it was heavily implied with how they handled Kiffin.

This isn't about whether the contract was voided, it is about whether the contract was legal to begin with. If the precedent is set that it wasn't, that's another step towards players becoming employees, which I believe will happen eventually anyways
Ding ding ding ding!!! We have a winner!!
Well, you and a few others. If Ole Miss is in the group of schools that do not want athletes as employees, then they just shot themselves in the head. Literally.
This suit will walk the entire narrative that way. To those who disagree, go back and read the House settlement agreement and what each judge individually wrote about said decision. One laid out 4 criteria that must be met for athletes to be considered employees. Several sports at many schools have athletes that meet all 4. Football is one of them.
Also, go look at Ted Cruz’ bill before the Senate. Cruz has worked for the DOJ and the FTC. He’s currently the chairman or the US Senate Commerce Committee. For the record, the SEC and the BIG10 both are against this bill.
If all the schools opposed to having athletes as employees want to keep that from happening, they better work it out soon with Congress because this suit will push employee status on the schools even sooner.
