Since it seems many here don't actually know how it works, scheduling is done years in advance, and it's a roll of the dice on if those teams are actually going to be any good by the time you play them. UCF had UNC and Pitt scheduled this year.

When has UNC or Pitt been anything other than mediocre at best?

G5s won the majority of bowl games last year against P5s

Could this be because the G5 schools were playing the bottom rungs of the power 5 conferences?

Playing Pitt or NC doesn't do anything for your image. Neither has ever been a powerhouse in a good while.
Next season y'all catch Stanford in Orlando and Pitt at Pitt. But Fla Atlantic and Florida A&M hurt.

2020 you have NC and GT and two openings. Fill the openings with a couple of good teams.

2021 you have just Louisville. Three openings. Get three good teams.

You guys need a real schedule.

I agree that the system is rigged, and favors only a few teams, mainly Bama. Yes you do have to get other teams to play you, but Danny White has been said he will only schedule home and homes. You will NEVER get one of the big boys to agree to a home and home. Many of the big boys won't agree to schedule you even if you agree to go there, They want the cupcake small schools. UCF's only hope of playing the big boys is neutral site opening weekend game, i.e. Boise playing UGA.

Man you are trying way too hard to prove UCF is important. UCF is a good team and you should be proud. That being said SOS matters to the guys that assign rankings and bowls. If you don't like it schedule better teams. You have 3 P5 teams in state. That's an easy place to start.

And your University thought that UNC and Pitt were gonna be powerhouses to play?

Nice try but maybe try scheduling a football team instead of basketball team for your OOC games and then someone will care.

I can see your point. I almost wish a power five conference would take a school like UCF under its wings and keep them out of the conference but maneuver to let them schedule like 3-4 SEC games. Almost like a probationary period. If they can win 50-75% of those games over a 5 year period, they get a conference invite.
I can see how it’s hard for a relatively new school to break into the higher echelon of college football. Meanwhile, you have the Ole Miss, Duke, Kansas, Illinois, Oregon states of the CFB scene that regularly get to play the “big boys” and never quite measure up.
I’m confident UCF would have the monetary and alumni support if given the opportunity to compete and expand.

Your program has peaked already. Just embrace it and enjoy the win streak until it all goes to shite on January 1.

First, for those of you that complain that UCF needs to schedule P5 teams for OOC games: they do. Since it seems many here don't actually know how it works, scheduling is done years in advance, and it's a roll of the dice on if those teams are actually going to be any good by the time you play them. UCF had UNC and Pitt scheduled this year. UNC, although cancelled due to hurricane, would have done nothing for the SoS. They are horrible. Earlier in the year, Pitt was looking the same, as we plowed them, but they ended up being the ACC division champ, but are still not that great.

Y'all are scheduling pretenders. They are good enough to have a winning record some years, and every 5 or 6 years, they get near the top of the conference, but most of the time, those schools are average to meh at best. Try scheduling strong OOC like LSU. Miami would be good for you. They are having a down year, like Florida State, and would fall into that category you brought up. Pitt and NC does not. What about a Texas? Georgia? Virginia Tech? USC? West Virginia? There are plenty of teams that are good programs that have bad years. Those would be more palatable than that garbage you just listed.
