The 2nd parent said they didn't even visit. Yet somehow they know all about Brian Kelly as a person and how he handled the Brooks situation.

At some point don't we just look at the lowest common denominator? The DB coach?

Yes and no. Both Raymond and Olsen have been here only one year now. The coaches that did not evaluate or coach those dbs properly are now gone so it's hard to put the blame on Raymond and Olsen if you're talking about DBs we missed on over the past 3 years.

Don't worry, Philly will be here within minutes of when Shea posts his next On3 recruiting update.

Good. I hope he does. Why do you care if he's sharing information about recruiting on this board? I am glad he and others do because I don't have the time. He, like CC, typically says this is from a personal source or this is from something he's read.

I will never understand why you and others feel the need to shite on the people bringing up to date and accurate recruiting news to the board.
I'm not even mad about the fact he is keeping his recruitment open, but the way he said it, "I'm better than what yall think." Just feels like a shot at lsu. If he's upset about his nil and this is how he chooses to express it i am not too worried about landing him.

I think it's playoffs or the door for BK.

I just don't see any way BK is fired until 2027 at the earliest. Too much buyout. Anything is possible but $51MM in 2025 seems like too much considering we're still paying our last coach.

No, what it does mean is this team has UNDER ACHEIVED.

Maybe I am not understanding the link, but how does the 2025 blue chip ratio ranking mean that this team (2024) underperformed. If you look at 2024 and 2023 it was significantly lower.

Presser today seemed hopeful.

Agreed. No matter what BK would or wouldn't say publicly he desperately needed that win on Saturday. Not just for recruiting but in terms of keeping this team from losing faith. Watching the presser today felt like someone had breathed life into him.

I was also happy to hear him outright state that in prior years they went cheap in the portal but to not expect that this year and going forward. Hopefully the money aligns with the goals and we hold this class together, finish with a W over Oklahoma and in the bowl game, and get more leaders to come back again for another year.
We also need QB help, but you're right that the line (on both sides) need to improve, which could help the qb as well.

It's hard to say which one is more important at this juncture until we see the portal. If we can get a top qb in the portal and get stewart, Underwood flip won't sting so bad long term; however, if there's no top qbs in the portal or we miss on them Underwood is going to sting a lot more.

With the portal and every player essentially on a year to year contract, there's just too many unknowns to definitively say landing one of these guys over the other was more important.

Losing Underwood sucks. Period. Theres no way around it. Landing stewart doesn't fix that. Getting a great qb from the portal will.

but like Saban he may feel like the portal and the State of college football has passed him and retire.

He came here to win a championship. Saban retired after winning multiple NCs at multiple schools. He had done it all and when he saw the sport changing he left because what else was he going to win at that point. Kelly isn't going to retire. He still wants that NC.
He will either ride out his contract to try and get an NC or be fired trying.

Revenue sharing and caps may really help us.

I could be wrong but I thought 3rd party payments weren't held to a cap so long as the player provides a service to the 3rd party in return, like starring in a commercial. Only the schools' payments to players is capped.

It seems like this won't do much good to slow down the NIL craziness.

I'm envious of our fans that remain so steadfastly positive about this staff.

I think people have hope because of how well the staff seems on paper.

I'm not saying I am happy about the product on the field or giving the coaching staff a complete pass here, but I find it odd so many of these coaches have had success elsewhere, or even here, in developing players. Yet, now it looks like they can't coach.

Raymond's been successful coaching DBs

Bakers been successful with being a DC and also an lb coach

Sloan was successful last year as QB coach. I don't think he should remain our OC though.

Hankton was successful at UGA

Wilson has been successful coaching rbs

I don't know much about Slade

Brads been successful as an o line coach

Kelly has been successful as an hc at multiple stops. I don't want to get into all that he can't win the big game stuff. Right now he isn't winning the ones he really should and the team is looking worse week to week, which is out of character from his resume.

Yet the product on the field looks like Kelly has never been an hc and all these guys have never been coaches at a high level before. Again, I'm not saying the coaches don't share in the blame, but it's very odd to me that, based on their prior coaching experiences, all of these coaches can't get their respective positions playing at a much higher level or at least steady improvement week to week instead of going backwards.

Man you seem like you enjoy making yourself miserable. You're bumping your own negative lsu posts.

You're acting like lsu just loses players and gets only leftovers yet we have the #1 player in the country committed. We also flipped a couple of guys from some top programs like texas. Kelly has actually done a pretty good job of keeping guys committed and avoid a bunch of big surprises right before signing day.

Flips go both ways. You just want to focus on it from a negative lsu perspective for some reason.

I can tell you flat out that isn’t true. Pickett wants to see more from LSU

You posted a link to a page that is not real. The real ranking was updated yesterday on the exact same page and we are 4th. Tgat was my entire point. How did u post a page that is not real showi g is as the number 1 class. That’s what I was asking. On3 has us as the 4th ranked class.

I think you guys are looking at two different rankings. He posted the pure on3 ranking and you're looking at the on3 composite rankings.

I have had the same issue as you before trying to find the purely on3 team rankings, but I think that's why you aren't seeing what he shared.

And our defense might be worse than last year.

No it most certainly is not.

If we do by end of ESD… will BK Know how to utilize it? Or Jimbo Fisher it. Jimbo thought a #1 class would fix the problems too.

I think last year showed us that with the right pieces on the roster, especially at qb, BK knows how to utilize it. The problem this year is that Nuss won't or can't run. He doesn't have to run 100 yards a game but the 5 to 10 gimme yards he seems scared to take. Until he does that our offense will continue to sputter running the ball. Bryce will fix a lot of those issues just like jayden did.

Defense is turning around under baker and I have faith he will maximize the talent available to him.
Theres still a lot of time between now and when Underwood is starting. It's possible he starts next year but not a given. I am guessing we will hit the portal for a WR after assessing where we stand with the WR room at the end of the season and post signing day.

Just an FYI for people who didn't listen and only read the tweet:

Shea did not say that lsu only has frank Wilson going for them in a negative or desperate way. He basically said OSU and LSU have the best d line coaches in the country and the fact we also have frank and the fact stewart transferred to a school frank knows well could help seal the deal. However it's still a toss up as far as he knows.

Wow, we out bid Michigan’s $5 million

Kind of. Michigan's $5mil offer was comparable to what we were already offering. So really they were just catching up to us.
