If you have a pit, my condolences for your child.

Any non pit (Doberman or Shepherd) owners had their dog snap or bite their kid? What would you do?

I have a german Shepherd and he hasn't done that. He has played a little rough and I had to calm him down but never bite. If your kids get super hyper/run around that's when I find something like that most likely to happen because they want to play too

We have a 7 yr old male Chiweenie (not fixed), He's bitten everyone in the house at some point, mainly for messing with him or taking his bone/toy.

My thing is, if my mutt gets his tail stepped on or spooked, she might bite. It would hurt, maybe even draw a little blood. But, if your pit bull bites, it can get ugly in a hurry.

I had an english bulldog that snapped at my 3 year old. I yelled at her to leave the dog alone.

I had my cocker spaniel bite me once when I was moving its food. Bassit hound bit my kid once but he was mostly blind and that was food related as well. To me the difference is neither of those dogs can kill you like a pit.

I’ve got a beagle and he’s never snapped at anyone except for the foster kids we’ve kept. After about a week he warms up to them but for the first few days I have to keep an eye on him.
Now the SOB barks at everyone all the time. Hell, he barks at the walls and the floor. He barks all day everyday.

Once when my daughter (no pics) was about 9 months old. He was sleeping on a chair and she pulled on his ear. We have a vizsla and he’s generally very good and insanely protective. They’re best friends now, she’s 4, and always has treats that he can easily steal. He knew he ducked up right after and was trying to lick her while she was crying. I got after him pretty good too so I think he remembers.

My Pop's chihuahua would snap at anyone who got close to him. Well, not family members who were around all the time, but other visitors and such. After my Pops passed, I pretty much inherited the pup, and he was kind of the same way with me. I blamed his old age that made him ornery, he lived to 18, but he was an arsehole his entire life. As a puppy, he bit a friend of mine on the nose. The friend was dicking with him and kind of asked for it.

I miss the hell out of that pup.

We had adopted an abused male Crocker Spaniel. Greatest dog in the world until his bipolar kicked in. About once a week thendog would just get up and start growling at whoever was in the room. If you got close enough he would snap.

We had to get rid of him sadly. Could not be trusted around the grandkids.

Our female cocker Spaniel on the other hand would let the kids do whatever they wanted to her.

My brothers goddog has bitten several of my kids. We don’t let them go over there when he’s around anymore.
